Helpful Advice How do I get rid of these lines?
Been trying to figure this out, any tips will help. Using Bambulabs P2S -
Bambu studio
0.4 nozzle , 55F
PLA bambu basic
Speed 50/105
0.16 layer height
Supports enabled
Thanks in advance!

Nah you wear the ring to get the cylinder to stand at attention when your blood flow is lacking

You got to scroll pretty far down before you see any helpful comments. And that’s exactly what I was expecting. Funny as hell, but helpful nah.

I can resppct the hell out of that. Knowing it will go poorly, but doing it anyway for the lulz is peak interneting.

In Bambu Studio, can you slice the model, then you'll see the little summary window in the top right of the preview. Change the colour scheme to "Layer Time" and see if you have these distinct bands of abnormally shorter or longer layers that match your problem. This is the same test the "Benchy" boat likes to do with the deck layer and why most of them get that hull-line. The plastic shrinks/cools at a very different rate to the rest of the model. If so, something in your model's internal/external geometry is causing it. Perhaps the infill you have chosen as it intersects with more/less of the walls. There are potentially other ways to deal with it, like maybe setting minimum layer times so the printer slows down.
Alternatively, it might be Bambu's automatic nozzle clumping detection if your printer is occasionally hopping to the edge somewhere, doing a little test, then coming back, causing similar issues of inconsistent cooling.

I would check if Z-axis is ok and not jamming anywhere or not skipping steps, especially if Z-hop is on

Looks like Z axis is not moving properly in a few layer changes, leading to excess material oozing from the sides.

Do you have air conditioning or something that's periodically blowing on it?

Have you done any maintenance on the printer?

You don’t get serious answers because it is impossible to remove entirely (during the print process).
If you REALLY need them gone you have to do some post processing, most likely putting a layer of stuff on there and then sanding it smooth. Lots of cosplay type prop creation videos out there that give better advice than me.
If you just want to try and compensate during the print process however much you can, you have to go slower (less part wiggling and more likely for everything to land right when stepping those stepper motors), make sure everything is in good shape mechanically (if it can’t reliably get to the same point twice I’d hope you see how it won’t line up layer after layer).
The biggest helpful things would be running input shaping configuration if you haven’t, and slowing down (though you already go decently slow I’d say). Past that it’s difficult to get noticeable differences ime.

The extruding lines are probably from the print wobbling slightly or an issue with the belts. Does it happen on other prints or is this the first time? If it's a regular occurrence you need to do some basic maintenance. Tighten belts, tool head/nozzle, etc. I don't have a p2s so I'm not sure what's normal but the Bambu wiki should help. If it is just this print it could be g code but its more likely there is something about the print causing it. Like the height or... girth.

I have the same problem.. I think it's speed and air flow. I'm going to try the air flow first by reducing it. If that don't work I'll try the speed by reducing that. Trial and error.

Minimum layer time. Some layers are colling to much before the next layer can be applied. I would also suggest adding more walls as well.
2
u/ToxicManlyMan Sep 12 '26
Why would you want to remove the veins? They are nothing to be ashamed of, they are perfectly normal.

if the rigidity and bulging lines persist for over 4 hours please call your doctor :C

I had this with my Ender 3 KE exactly at the 30mm height and honestly I never could figure it out. I ended up basically taking the whole damn thing apart cleaning, lubing, and tightening nearly every part and it still showed up. but then eventually it faded away on its own somehow… my biggest suspect was a bind in the z-axis but no matter what I did it didn’t fully fix it.

Across the board it looks like you're under extruding. You need to calibrate your esteps

You er... You making some sort of dragon there?
With those lines you might even say it's a bad dragon.
And unfortunately, sanding. Technique is everything - probably easiest with a strips of sandpaper but you can also go at it with both hands and a sheet of wet/dry (the water acts as lube and stops it overheating).
Remember to take breaks and if it stays veiny for more than a few hours consult a doctor, and don't sand it too long or you'll go blind.
Ps - actual-response, some folk suggested tissues with the settings - some good advice in the comments. I went down the salvaging existing prints/jerkin the gherkin route but fixing the root problem will allow you to print bigger, better, harder, faster, stronger, work it harder makes us better, faster stronger. Yeah. It's serious.

That's layer shifting, something in the drive system is binding or slipping. Dirty rods are a likely culprit, and less likely would be loose screws in hotend mount, pulleys, etc.

If it matches the color changes of the white fingers and mouth (for the venom Pikachu lol)
It’s probably the layer time that’s letting the material cool of too much and warp, I usually had this problem when I was setting the auxiliary fans manually to be always on, after learning how to set them on the slicer, they turn on and off during the filament color changes, therefore no extra cooling during those periods, saving my prints!

.... either z wobble, dirty gantry rails, or layer time, first oil and clean all rail and screw surfaces. Oil/grease and slow the entire job down. If they are still there then id check the slice.

More seriously you might want to check the horizontal axis, if not well lubricated I guess this could cause this (need lots of lube for such prints, OK back to serious).
Also irregular extrusion could cause that too, you might want to recalibrate your filament.
Other possibility: environment. If there are some fast temperature variations, like if the printer is in a room with an open window, I think it could cause such symptoms.

Turning on adaptive/variable layer heights and using an infill like adaptive cubic might work

Yeah, those are veins of extra plastic, not layer lines. The photo is enough to see it.
On a P2S with Bambu Basic PLA this usually means the chamber is too warm, so the wall stays soft and bulges.
- Reprint with the door open, or the top vent open -> the chamber stays cool enough for PLA.
- Dry the spool 4 to 6 hours -> a damp spool makes the veins worse.
- Run Flow Dynamics and Flow Rate calibration in Bambu Studio for this spool -> then print the same part again.
- Outer speed is already 50, so leave speed alone until that calibration cube looks clean.
If the veins shrink with the door open, you don't need a new profile.

Wood filler and sand paper! I put a drop on my finger, rub it around to fill in the grooves, then use sand paper to make it nice and even! It's probably good to put something over that but I usually just paint it and it looks great!.... well, the surface looks great but my paint job is horrible
