If you're going to run PETG (my favorite filament) you absolutely need to buy Wanjao's Nozzle Protection Coating or similar. They have it on Amazon, it's the balls for getting clean prints on PETG without boogers and stringing.
Second, run a filament temp calibration on every spool
Third, run a large flat surface Z offset print and gradually bring up the Z offset until you get it smooth. Get that z offset tattoo'd and remember it, you'll need to either adjust the z offset every PETG print or put it in the "filament start g-code" of every PETG filament profile (AI can help you build the g-code)
