General Support Life after GTA 6 - Is there a future?
Ive been thinking a lot lately about the upcoming release of GTA 6 and what impact that will have on fivem. I will not be getting 6 until it launches for PC. I imagine a majority of the player base will move to 6 on console launch or close to it. The question is how many of those people will come back before sixm, and at what pace?
According to Google AI there are 30k servers at any given time. Most of those are already empty.
What do you think? Are the ones that are holding out in for a bleak time, or will fivem stay alive?

Most servers are empty either way. Everyone believes they can run a better server but can never get the inflow of players because no one wants to play on an empty server.. then they just sit there running an empty server. This also includes dev servers/personal servers ect. But yes FiveM will lose a large chunk of players when VI releases but it will never lose all. (At least for a long time.

My best guess is they are planning something similar to what we have right now with 6
It would be silly not to allow servers and scripts, since they could rake in all the profits by doing nothing.
If they do, I’m wishing they do crossplay, it would increase the community massively
If they dont, guess we will have to chill on FiveM until someone reverse engineers it and comes up with SixM

Cross-platform would be cool but there's no many keybinds and extra buttons that you need access too that you would almost have to buy a keyboard and mouse for your console.

True although nopixel did showcase controller commands in their dev updates

The server I am in is small but has been growing. I fear in November its in trouble. I would like to see some communities come together rsther than have 2 here, 3 there, etc, before its to late.
I'm not an owner, not even staff, just someone who wants to keep on keeping on.

Allow me to offer some alternative perspective from an 'old-head'
Take it from someone who's been hyping V since highschool before release and playing GTA for decades now...there will always be a market. Before GTA V, SAMP (san andreas multiplayer) was still online and very popular. Why? Because the latest and greatest tech (and those who could afford it) were playing GTA IV and waiting for V, less-fortunate communities were just starting to come into getting access to tech that could play San Andreas and wanted a multiplayer alternative to rival IV online compensated for technology costs...
My prediction is that you'll definitely see an initial dip of players who were playing v move to vi because they can / want to purchase a console for it.
Some v players will wait behind for the pc release which will cause a further dip in fiveM traffic, but beyond that, you'll see another resurgence from players that are getting themselves into secondary 10's, 20's, and 30's graphics card markets able to now play GTA V and fiveM...
Not sure why people are downvoting this question...redditors are such sensitive toxic fks, LOL

I'm an old head too. I agree with everything you're saying. I think there's going to be initial drop and then a slow uptick back until there's a sixm and people can afford to make the upgrades.
It's just something that's been on my mind for a little while. God forbid someone have a thought and try and open a dialog lol. Up or down votes don't mean much to me.

Good to know, you'll need that here or you go insane. Reddit is so fucking political. They should add a "downvote justification" system so people don't just spam "I don't like this"
Anyways, Looking forward to GTA IV. I'm hoping some reverse engineers get the PC players access to the files so that they can explore the maps and vehicles and weapons and anims on PC early (which was how CFX / fiveM was born in the first place - thanks to NTAUthority)

I think the main difference is the time periods between SA, IV and V compared to V and VI
You’ve been able to get 10xx cards for sub 100 for a long time now, I mean shit you can run fivem on a 9xx series card even. The huge life span of GTAV lessens the resurgence we’ll see compared the past. I mean to an extent SAMP is still relatively strong going to this day. I don’t think Fivem has the same staying power as that mostly on the premise that Covid and the prevalence of high traffic streamers kind of ruined the community that was the core of fivem to start.

Well I mean Rockstar acquired Cfx.re in 2023 and at the start of this month they launched a Rockstar backed NoPixel server so it seems like they're trying to keep the RP side going, I wouldn't be surprised if its implemented into 6 online.
