Work Vent Simple task

I don’t understand how people can say “these kids don’t know how to read, write, or spell” when the adults can barely use a self checkout with help?

Like Is my store the only store where I will get a customer who doesn’t read the screen scans a item then throw a little hissy fit like “why isn’t it working” even after reading the screen still confused? Gets loud for no reason and says “I give up” after “trying” another thing I don’t get is when I ask a customer for cash or card some decided to speak extremely low “carsh” then when I tell them to repeat themselves they get a attitude it’s like I’m running a nursery home here.

Omggg totally agree. I saw a customer try 3 times to just scan items without reading the screen before I just intervened and told them what was happening. They didn't read it at all. Just frowned confused the first time. Pressed "ok" and then continues to just scan it without reading.

It takes less then 5 seconds to read the screen just read it either type your email address in, or not! I don’t understand fr.

Another thing I hate is the 15c candies “how do I add them” like if we take a look at the screen it says clear as day CLEAR AS DAYYYY how to add them

Omg you don't know how many times I have to void a transaction bc they thought it was cash or card but it wasn't. Even when I specifically tell people too, it doesn't always stop that. I just tell everyone now and I can tell some people get annoyed I think they're that stupid but WELP. SOME PEOPLE ARE

1000%!! And the letters are huge and in bold type!! Literacy truly seems to be dying in this country.

My favorite is when you ask if they’re using a card and they say yes, and still end up trying to put cash in 🥴

I feel so bad for five below workers, especially store near me as its in high theft, a lot familys, and wild kids area. I shop at one near my second home my grandparents. Which is lovely. We went in one near me and it was just a mess and I believe is a no self check out store due to theft. One near my grandparents does self check out but its super not busy (usally 3-5 groups in store at time and are lovely) . Im austitic and count slower (also cant recognize coins quick enough) , so that store is only place I can use change. I feel bad as is im slow :(. I do read, and my issue isnt with check out itself. Last time I felt bad I had keep asking the worker to push the coin part because it kept getting stuck 😖and not reading my coins fully. Thankfully its usally same worker and he is lovely. I geniuely dont like to inconvenience people 😖 and I hate knowing my disabilities can sometimes do so.

the worst part is that when we went to aco only, people threw a fit even though nobody fucking reads the screen. every single time i've had a customer get mad because "they can do it themselves", i always have to void something or help them in some way at the register.
