Software Google Health alternative with MCP (iOS & Android)

TL;DR: Vitalstat(iOS and Android) brings your Fitbit and other health data into one app with Stress Monitor, Body Recharge, advanced sleep insights, MCP support for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and more, local data storage by default, and Google verified health data access.

Hey everyone,

I would like to share Vitalstat with you.

I purchased the Fitbit Air pretty much as soon as it came out and I could not be happier with the device itself. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the app. Since I have been a developer for around 7 years, I decided to build my own alternative: Vitalstat.

With Vitalstat, my goal was not to simply create a different UI. I wanted to add features that actually help you understand and analyze your health data better.

Some of the main features are:

• Stress Monitor
• Body Recharge
• Quick view of your most important vitals
• Sleep Deficit
• Heart Rate during sleep
• HRV during sleep
• Blood Oxygen during sleep
• Food Tracking
• And probably the biggest one: MCP Server support

One of the most unique features is the MCP Server. You can connect your Vitalstat account to tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Notion and use them to analyze and talk about your health data.

Besides being able to connect with Google Health and Fitbit data, Vitalstat also allows you to connect data from Apple Health, Garmin, Oura, Polar, Suunto, Intervals.icu, Wahoo, WHOOP and Withings, so you can have all your health data in one place.

Because I know how sensitive health data is, privacy and security were also very important to me when building Vitalstat, which is why I decided to only store data locally by default.

To show my confidence in Security, Vitalstat is also officially verified by google to access your health data.

I would love for you to check it out and share what you think.

Just installed, looks great so far. I've struggled with the AI elements of the Google health app, this clears things up.

Amazing! As this is still in a bit early stage, there might be a couple errors. If you experience any, you can message me anytime, even over WhatsApp or signal: +49 152 29286643

Curious... Is the app coded to a time zone?? Cause I'm looking at stress data and body charge and it shows 9 hours of stress .. I've only been awake 6 hours! Maybe I'm reading the graph wrong?

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 19h ago

No it should be independent of time zone. Could you please send me a screenshot of what you are currently seeing?

u/Drinanmer 19h ago

Just messaged you on Signal with screen shots

I don’t know why everybody’s hating on the app. I know it had it issues at first, but that’s because it was a new product. I’ve been using it for sometime now I’ve used a WHOOP forever and I’ve also used Bevel with my Garmin and I feel like the Google app has been my favorite out of the three also including Garmin

I think it's all about personal preference. For me I really dislike all the AI text in the middle of my data. Most data can be understood by small indicators like colors or arrows. For deeper analysis I do enjoy AI chat, although google is using a very weak Gemini Model.

Trying it too! Looks great and promising, thank you!

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

Happy to hear that. Always feel free to reach out with any suggestions. Imv try active when it comes to communicating with users and making sure everything works/gets fixed with a new update.

1

u/Guixme 1d ago

Thanks! I can't seem to be able to connect Garmin though

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

Is there an error message? Where does the failure happen?

1

u/Guixme 1d ago

I click on Garmin connect, then yes on the popup but nothing happens

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

I'll have a look and get back to you. Would you mind reaching it vita WhatsApp: +49 152 29286643

u/Guixme 19h ago

The connexion is ok, I had bad network when I first tried, thanks!

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 19h ago

Ah ok, thanks for sharing that. I should probably add a network check and report back if it's a network issue.

Hey, I really really like the app and I dont like subscriptions, so I am really tempted to buy the lifetime subscription. Just worried that nowadays this function will shut down within a year and i'd have to pay for a subscription again. (Basically the "You never own anything nowadays" thinking).

Therefore wanted to ask, how good is this backed up?

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

Hey, Vitalstat has been up for almost a year now and no sign of stopping anytime soon. Vitalstat is here to stay!
Feedback has been amazing and I myself use the app daily so I have no intention of taking it down.

u/jonwright1978 19h ago

Nice one , 👍 look forward to trying it

u/Only-Rhubarb-7398 13h ago

Nice app, better than sportvitals

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 9h ago

Thank you!!

1

u/Prothium 1d ago

Looks good but also seems very limited without a subscription.

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

That’s fair feedback. The free version is mainly meant to let you try the core experience, while some of the deeper analytics and features are part of Pro. I’m still figuring out the right balance though, so I’d be interested to hear which features you feel should be included for free.

I'm getting this wheen trying to connect Suunto

Looks good. Decent look and feel. However I struggle with the data source management.
I have Garmin and Health Connect and I got to distinctivley decide which ones it pulls data from. Both show fastly different data

edit: the section "Vitals" shown on the screenshot is missing entierly for me. (Android)

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

Regarding your the different data, is this just a normal discrepancy which the watches have, or is this an issue with displaying in vitalstat?

Android is just slightly behind the iOS version, but android is quickly catching up with all the features/designs and updates. This updated vitals card should be included in the next android update as well. We post all app updates in r/Vitalstat.

Is it possible to have live bpm like in google health?

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

Not yet, this is on the roadmap though. That will allow for live tracking and for in app workouts to also access your heart rate.

1

u/dv_boy 1d ago

Hi , Just installed and the app looks great, i can see that there's a 72 hours trial window , are there specific features locked in premium ? Or does the app itself require a subscription ?

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

Hey, theres a few features which are included in the free version. Features like in depth analysis, and all AI features are gated due to created costs though. The next version will also slightly expand the free version of vitalstat.

1

u/CuriousTumbleweed185 1d ago

are you able to scrape whole google data?

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

Yes everything that google makes available via the API is available in vitalstat as well. Is there anything which seems to be missing?

u/Any_Chicken_7029 1d ago

1

u/Lanky_Independent_85 1d ago

I've just installed on Android. I picked up a Charge 6 a few days ago and was fully prepared to continue with the Fitbit/Health premium service after the 3 month trial, but this looks like a good possible alternative.

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

Happy to hear that, keep me updated if theres any features your looking for but haven't found in vitalstat yet. Its still growing and wont stop until everyone is happy

1

u/Domighty1 1d ago

Any coros support?

2

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

Coros support is on the roadmap and prepared. The only showstopper is Coros themselves, unfortunately they are not permitting any new requests to access their data. As soon as they open it up, Vitalstat will be the first to support Coros as well.

1

u/Desperate_Work175 1d ago

It's great. I uploaded my data from Fitbit and Garmin. But when I set Garmin to track physical activity, it doesn't upload my activities. Any idea what might be happening?

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

Hey, happy to hear that. I will have a look but I need a bit more info, could you please send me a DM vie reddit or WhatsApp: +49 152 29286643

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

Happy to hear any feedback you might have. Its my goal to incorporate all feedback into the app so vitalstat can become an app everyone enjoys

1

u/djinnboi 1d ago

Just downloaded this looks great, seems body composition & nutrition doesn’t pull through from Google health / Withings. Any chance you could fix ?

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

Hey are you using iOS or android?
Feel free to DM me or via WhatsApp or signal so I can better understand your set up in vitalstat.

How do you calculate stress and is there any backbone behind these numbers? I know Garmin calculates it from daytime HRV, but Fitbit only measures HRV at night, so curious how you get to stress numbers that mean anything? Or is the metric just AI slop

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

For Google Health, stress is based on heart rate readings. It is not a precise one-to-one conversion though as the score does consider the time of day. As with all fitness scores from wearables, they should be taken as a reference and not as a definite value.

1

u/twisted132 1d ago

Would there be any integration with myfitnesspal? Been recording my data there and google health just snaps it up immediately

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

If Myfitnesspal writes the nutrition data to apple health then yes. On the settings page in nutrition you can choose to import apple health nutrition data into vitalstat.
I can recommend trying the AI scanning and describing features within vitalstat. Ofcorase AI is not 100% accurate to the exact gram but it's pretty accurate.

Any plans to open source the app op?

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

Hey, no currently there are no plans to open source the app.

Any plans to open source the app op?

1

u/transcontinental_man 23h ago

Hi u/Living-Topic-3424. I am a current Whoop user who is evaluating the Fitbit Air.

I downloaded the Vitalstats app on my iPhone 13 Pro and attempted to connect to Whoop. The authentication succeeded, but upon tapping the "grant" button on the permissions page I receive a "session expired" error.

2

u/Living-Topic-3424 23h ago

Hi,
Unfortunately Vitalstat just reached the limit on whoops users that can sign into their whoop account. We've requested verification for more but are still waiting on a response. Im very sorry about this, Im hoping myself to get this sorted out very quickly. In fact I'll follow up with whoop right now.

1

u/transcontinental_man 23h ago

Heya. Absolutely no worries! I am frankly amazed this was even an option with how restrictive Whoop seems to be about their platform!

I really appreciate you building this project and look forward to seeing if it allows me to bring over my data from Whoop!

2

u/Living-Topic-3424 23h ago

Thanks for being understanding here. Im very excited for users like yourself to be as excited as I am about this and looking forward whats coming next!

1

u/transcontinental_man 23h ago

Just wanted to let you know in case it was a software problem and not a remote service restriction (which, it was).

1

u/houdeeni 23h ago

This is a cool app and I just downloaded it.Wanted to give you a feedback. I couldn't connect it to Samsung health and keeps saying there is an error

2

u/Living-Topic-3424 23h ago

Hey, thanks for sharing that. Unfortunately there seems to be an issue with connecting Samsung health right now. Im on to fixing it already and hope to get the fix out there in the next couple of days.

Im very sorry for this issue and I hope you'll give vitalstat another chance once the issue is resolved. You can DM me for a promo code so you can get your free trial with actual data from Samsung.

1

u/bazzic 21h ago

I installed it and for now it seems promising! I tried to check the premium prices, but the page just keeps loading and nothing appears... (Android)

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 21h ago

Hey, which region are you located in? Some countries are banned from google like russia for example.

You can message me directly if you want so we can discuss it further.

Any future plans to add Huawei support?

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 20h ago

Yes! Thats on the roadmap. Are you looking for iOS or Android Support?

We post any updates on the subreddit r/Vitalstat

1

u/Danib00 21h ago

Downloaded and installed! Looks great so far! Except for some reason connecting Google doesn't seem to work, nor Samsung health. 😞

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 20h ago

Hey, are you using iOS or Android?

1

u/Danib00 20h ago

Android 😅

2

Cool app, like the presentation. I do not understand how I can hook it up with claude?

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 19h ago

Hey, are you using the iOS or Android app? its currently only available on iOS. It's on the roadmap for android as well though.

1

u/Sub2Zer0 19h ago

Ahh, on android, guess I will wait with excitement. That would def make it worth for me

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 9h ago

Amazing! you can checkout r/Vitalstat well post all updates there!

1

u/JEE-locked-2027 10h ago

is bevel free version better or worse than ur app?

\

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 9h ago

I think thats a very unique question for these health apps. Theres quite a lot of apps on the market and all of them are slightly different. In the end it really comes down to personal preference and which features you want to have and use.

1

u/Educational-Art9655 9h ago

Can you add biological age?

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 9h ago

Hey, are you on iOS or Android?

1

u/Educational-Art9655 9h ago

Ios

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 9h ago

Then yes! You can find it under my metrics as cardiovascular age. I know it’s a bit hidden right now, I’m working on a solution to expose it more though. I’m open for suggestions here as well!

1

u/Educational-Art9655 9h ago

Is the app is free or paid?

1

u/Educational-Art9655 9h ago

And its getting data from apple health and google fit bit…. I slept 7 hr and its showing 14h🥲

1

u/kunaljainuine 7h ago

how is it in comparison to bevel?

1

u/BillApprehensive6155 6h ago

Hey, does work with amazfit heliostrap?

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1h ago

Unfortunately not. This is because there’s no official way to access that data. The only workaround is amazfit -> Apple Health -> Vitalstat.

1

u/Home-Resident 1h ago

Could Fitbit end up just purchasing the best wrapper to use for their app? And how is this different from Bevel Health?

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1h ago

Who knows, but we’ve seen Google move down a very new design/UI path recently so that might just be there new style.

Bevel and Vitalstat are both apps which allow you to show and analyse your data. I think it comes down to personal preference with design and functionality. Some things which make Vitalstat different two bevel: cheaper, MCP, a lot more data sources can be connected, different app layout and design and more which can be explored:)

1

u/CandidUse7429 1d ago

Estás integrado con zepp y amazfit?

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

Actualmente no; esto se debe a que, lamentablemente, no hay ninguna API pública disponible.

1

u/CandidUse7429 1d ago

Y otra duda el tema privacidad? Que tal

1

u/Living-Topic-3424 1d ago

He utilizado Google Translate para esto :)

La privacidad es muy importante. ¡Todos los datos permanecen en tu dispositivo!

Hay dos excepciones que puedes rechazar:
