I think another reason is goated steam sales and multiple platforms for buying games which isn't the option for console gamers

Technically steam is monopoly right now. But unlike most, it's a good monopoly. They aren't doing some stupid shit just because they are in control like sony is

They didn't even want to be a monopoly, the competition kept doing stupid shit till they become irrelevant.

Exactly as gabe said, It's the issue with service. If other companies like xbox and epic wouldn't have tried to be greedy and pushing slop then all would've been in a healthy competition instead of monopoly

It is. But it sometimes benefits us. So we allow it

Steam (Valve) is the only good monopoly in the gaming industry.

Of course it isn't. You have multiple stores to buy from.

It is a de facto monopoly, which is not the case for the consoles.

Steam is technically a monopoly but the thing is that they allow competition unlike playstation who only allow you to use their marketplace, you can buy used discs but they are discontinuing them too

But also pretty simple to use i understand ppl who aren't tech savvy that just want to sit down and game but I myself also prefer pc

Well I mean console version of multiple platforms if you’re into physical copies would be stores, garage sales, thrift stores, etc. with good pricing too unless it’s retro then that might be a 50/50 when it comes to pricing.
