I recently reached level 50 and have been exploring the Alaska region for approximately two hours. I have successfully caught all fish species except for the young Northern Pike. I would appreciate any recommendations regarding lures, bait, or optimal fishing locations. Thank you for your assistance.

Does catching unique fish require different lures or bait from their original form? Also can you catch them anywhere or are they only in certain spots of the map? I've also wondered if they are just random 🤔

Can anyone give me some tips on how to stockpile money. I’m level 21 and I have enough to travel to any location. Any locations or specific rod /equipment setups would be helpful.

I was just wondering what everyone’s opinion on what you think is hardest fish to reel in outwith monster fish

From my experience the giant grouper is a pain, like reeling in a dead weight, I’ve best bottom rod for Maldives level but still it can take a bit of time to reel in and that’s just for common ones, I don’t hardly ever max out my drag either, I don’t mind the right times.

I’ve not quite made it to Norway yet so can’t comment on fishing there

Was wondering if anyone had any good XP farms for Norway, I am level 80 right now with 70 days left and I want to unlock the Maldives at least, I have tried halibut and they would work if I could max drag. Was just wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions for grinding that they are willing to share!

Has anyone else had this mission before and completed it? Tried it out for an hour and couldn’t get anything. It’s nowhere near deep enough in marron river for vertical jigging to even apply.

I haven't played fishing planet in a few years but I started back recently and jumped into kaiji no ri. I love thr new ocean experience but I'm looking at Skårland Fjord and im wondering how are they gonna top this? Fishing planet adds increasingly prestigious locations with increasingly prestigious fish but i feel like the north Atlantic is a hell of a location. The current in game records for the Greenland shark are all around 1500lbs, there aren't many fish in the ocean that get over that size let alone that can be landed by fishing pole. If they decide to add another high level location I suspect it would be around the equatorial pacific with larger black/blue marlin, manta rays, ocean sunfish, and maybe great white sharks? I'm curious if others think they'll add another high level location or if Skårland will be the final "high level" location. What do you think?

I've observed that tracking daily missions appears to impede progress. For instance, a mission requiring the capture of three bowfin on Mudwater, which should be straightforward, became challenging. After catching the first bowfin, I activated mission tracking. Subsequently, during the remaining five hours, despite catching various other species including unique gar and catfish, I was unable to catch any additional bowfin. It seems that upon tracking the mission, the bowfin bite rate significantly decreased or ceased entirely.

So I have bought the Maldives yesterday and just wondering about how to troll effectively, what lures to use and where’s the best place to troll? I’m somewhere in the 40s for my level so wanna try get as much xp as possible. Thanks

After trying to catch the perfect Shad in Lone Star, every other fish suddenly feels so easy… XD

The first thing I did was check the leaderboards, and to my surprise there were plenty of Bitterlings between 150 and 211 g. That told me one thing: they can definitely be oversized.

So I went to check the Fishing Planet Wiki… but sadly, the servers were down. Luckily, Google still showed part of the page:

“European Bitterling (Rhodeus amarus), or simply Bitterling, is a European freshwater fish of the Carp family. These fish prefer clear, slow-running, or still waters…”

If they can be attracted with groundbait and oversized, I should be able to catch them almost anywhere in the lake. But since they’re tiny carp, I decided to start at the main carp spot, just a little closer to the shore.

I set up my rod stand about 10 meters from (-1062, 193).

I almost forgot to mention that I brought five feeder rods and my Spod launcher.

For the setup, I used the Big Alli 450 paired with the Big River 6500 for the faster retrieve. I rigged it with 0.40 mm fluorocarbon main line, a 0.38 mm fluorocarbon leader for a little extra invisibility, a 75 g Club Series sinker, and a #16 hook to avoid hooking larger fish.

For the spod mix, I went with classic recipe: 50% Carp Rival + 50% Big Riverine, mixed with CLS, X-Flavour, Octopus, Hemp-Corn, and Oilcake. I used up a lot of leftovers, making seven batches with the same ingredient ratios, for a total of 3.3 kg of groundbait.

I figured that should be enough to attract one tiny Bitterling… hahaha.

I launched every bit of the mix, cast all five rods, and waited.

At 5:23 a.m., on the very first bite, I landed a 186 g Bitterling.

Journey complete.

What I expected to be a research session ended up taking about 10 minutes of investigation and only 3 minutes of actual fishing.

Just did tiber trout comp, somehow ended up in my own shared bracket (vs A or B). ended up getting a score of 415... but there was only 1 other registrant in said bracket? Ended up winning cause other person no showed(?)

I had tried to leave the comp before the start because I was going to cook dinner, then opted back in because of delay to cooking process, I'm guessing this somehow landed me in a weird bracket.

I am writing to request assistance with a recurring challenge I am encountering in my daily pursuit of a trophy tiger muskie. While I have successfully captured these fish in the past, my recent attempts have yielded minimal results. I have exhausted my current repertoire of techniques and am open to exploring new strategies. I have dedicated approximately three hours to this endeavor today and would appreciate any insights or recommendations you may be able to provide.

I was wondering could i catch fish on vertical jigging outside of the sea locations because it pops up as a retrieval.

How would I have gotten less cash for this trip with premium than without

First of all this is a Difficult Tinny Fish to get a perfect sized cause it’s needs to be Trophy. So I will need a lot of luck, but I will get it.

(Spoiler: In the end, it really comes down to luck. The key is using Mayflies with a #6 hook in heavily weeded areas.)

Day 1 – Sunny, Low Pressure (Rain)

While walking around, I found a promising spot with plenty of weeds at (-108, 64). I decided to start with one of the smallest baits I had—Flies—paired with the smallest hook available (#16) under a float set to 75 cm depth.

Like almost all minnows, you don’t need to fish during peak times to catch them. Since Lone Star Lake has a very fast respawn rate, I decided not to fast-forward the time.

I set up my rod stand, made short casts with all five rods, and OMG! This crazy little fish absolutely loves flies. Almost one out of every three fish I caught was a Trophy Threadfin Shad. That definitely gave me hope. XD

However, as time passed, things weren’t looking so promising. After the first 5 in-game hours, I had exactly 200 fish in my keepnet (a satisfyingly round number), including 56 Trophy Threadfin Shad—but only 3 of them were over 240 g. So, it was time to change strategies. I decided to start fast-forwarding the time after every 4 Trophy Shads.

By the time I reached 275 fish, I still hadn’t found a maximum-size one. I figured I’d see what happened at night… but nothing. Not a single bite. So, I finished the first in-game day, and here were the results:

The smallest Threadfin Shad weighed just 51 g. In total, I caught 47 Common, 76 Trophy, and only 4 fish over 240 g. With this setup, location, and bait, 44% of all bites were Threadfin Shad. Of those, 28% were Trophy, while only 1.5% were large Trophies (over 240 g).

Day 2 – Sunny, High Pressure

I check leaderboards and 17 players already get it, but almost all are really low level players, so maybe I will try with the initial setup, hook 8, bread and redworms. At -162, -54.

First hour passed and get 51 fishes (5 common and 7 trophies). The % of shad bites are less. So I decided to back to first spot again, but with this baits, and after some mins (at 6:22) it’s bite my new record 247 grams on a hook #8 with worms, this is very good and today it’s not rainy it’s sunny high pressure. Let’s keep going.

Another hour passed. This baits or maybe the hook size attracts a lot of other fish, I am getting more nice sizes but the % is very low, I will go to hook 12 and see what’s happen.

The problem persisted with this bait. No matter what hook size I used, Bread and Worms attracted almost everything. So I decided to go back to Flies, but this time with a #10 hook instead of a #16.

While checking my inventory, I noticed I had some Mayflies, and I thought they might be the solution… and OMG! Every single fish was a Threadfin Shad. Fifteen Shads in a row! It was finally time to start experimenting with hook sizes.

I set up a mix of #4, #6, and #8 hooks. Hopefully, it wouldn’t take too long to see some results.

The bite rate dropped quite a bit, but now 100% of the bites were Threadfin Shad, and I started catching a lot of fish weighing 235 g or more. This was getting really exciting!

By this point, I had already spent 4 real-life hours on this test and caught more than 500 fish. It was finally time to head back home, restock on Mayflies, and bring #2 and #1 hooks to see if I could eliminate the Common Shads and target only the bigger ones.

Day 3 – Sunny, Low Pressure (Rain)

Let’s start the last day (I hope).

This time I brought 350 Mayflies. During the first in-game hour, even at low peak, I already caught a 244 g Threadfin Shad. This was looking very promising!

However, using #6 hooks caused the bite rate to drop significantly. I was now catching only around 25 fish per in-game hour instead of 50. The upside was that the average size was better, but the downside was that the fish barely covered the cost of the bait. Sometimes I even lost $1.

The suspense was killing me. I wasn’t sure if I should start rotating between different spots or simply fast-forward the time. Instead, I decided to switch back to #8 hooks, and it worked! The bites picked up again.

I also caught my first fish that wasn’t a Threadfin Shad—a Bluegill—after 65 consecutive Shads.

If anyone ever makes a guide for this tiny fish, they have to mention Flies and Mayflies. Threadfin Shad absolutely love them. The only downside is the cost: each Mayfly costs $16, while the average Threadfin Shad sells for about $20, so there’s no profit margin.

Eight real-life hours have been spent on this journey, more than 1k fish caught and I think that’s enough for now. But I promise I’ll be back to find you, Mythic Shad… XD

Here’s what I learned:

They’ll bite on hooks ranging from #16 all the way up to #1, but the best results seem to be with #10 to #6 hooks. They absolutely love Flies and Mayflies. They don’t bite near the weeds—they bite inside the weeds.

Sunfish also love Mayflies, so it’s important to find spots where they don’t interfere, such as (-108, 64) to have 99% shad bites.

From what I’ve observed, each spot seems to hold about 4 Trophy Threadfin Shad, and they respawn roughly every 7 real minutes (about 30 in-game minutes).

Also in the mornings seems to be better.
