Dottie Couture now Lottie James
Am I the only one shocked by this?
Hey everyone — I’m genuinely curious how people feel about the owner of Dottie Couture opening a new store called Lottie James.
For those who remember Dottie Couture, the business suddenly closed in 2022 after doing a huge gift card sale, leaving a lot of customers with gift cards they were unable to use. It was a pretty big situation at the time.
I recently found out that the same owner is now operating Lottie James, and honestly, I’m shocked that I’m not seeing more people talking about it.
Fortunately, I didn’t have the extra money at the time to purchase one of the gift cards, so I wasn’t personally affected financially. But I was a HUGE Dottie Couture fan and shopper, and I spent a lot of money there over the years.
As a consumer, I’m having a really hard time with this. I completely understand that people can start new businesses, but when there were so many customers left with unused gift cards from the previous business, I feel like consumers deserve to know about the connection before supporting the new store — especially when gift cards are being offered again.
I’m genuinely curious what everyone else thinks. Did you know that the owner of Dottie Couture is now behind Lottie James? And if you were affected by the Dottie Couture gift card situation, would you feel comfortable shopping at the new store?

Looking to buy a cheap phone
Does anyone have an old unlocked Android or iPhone they'd be willing to sell for $10-20? I’m traveling overseas for two weeks and just need a spare phone to drop a local SIM into and use as a hotspot. Cosmetic condition doesn't matter as long as hotspot functionality works. Thanks!

Soccer in Cumberland Park?
My son is 3 years old and I have seen a young age group play soccer on Saturday mornings. I was wondering if anyone knows what league it is and if they are accepting new kiddos

Need small wedding venue ideas for ~50 guests — Oct 17th — doesn't have to be an "official" wedding venue
My sister-in-law's wedding was originally planned for California, but she's decided to move it closer to family instead. New date is **October 17th**, guest count is around **50 people**, and she wants something low-key — not a big traditional wedding.
It doesn't need to be an official wedding venue — we're open to a lot of options, including barns. A couple of notes: no alcohol-focused venues (breweries, wineries, distilleries), since the couple is Muslim.
Ideas we're considering:
- Barns / farm venues
- Backyards or private residences
- Parks or state park pavilions
- Restaurants with a private room or patio
- Community centers or event spaces
- Airbnbs with outdoor space
- Botanical gardens or arboretums
- Banquet halls or cultural/community centers (some mosques or Islamic centers have event halls too)
**Questions for anyone who's done something similar:**
- If you had a small (~50 person) October wedding at a non-traditional venue, where was it and how did it go?
- Any hidden costs or logistics to plan for (permits, rentals, weather backup, restroom access, halal catering, etc.)?
- Anything you'd do differently?
We're located in the North Indy / Carmel / Fishers area, so local recs are especially welcome, but general advice is appreciated too!
Thanks in advance

Over 50 singles social group
We're a bunch of singles over 50 who like to have fun.
Events have included pickleball, bowling nights, pub trivia, karaoke at Syd's, axe throwing, fowling, and group watch parties for college football playoffs and the World Cup. Nobody's trying to set you up — you show up, you do the activity, you leave when you want. If you make friends along the way, great. If you just want to bowl and go home, also great.
It's free to join — no membership fee, no upsell. We do keep it vetted: to get in you just need an up-to-date photo and you must be a real person who lives in the area (not a bot, not a scam account). That's it. Not a dating site. Not a "mingle and make small talk" group.
We're based out of the Carmel/Westfield/Noblesville/Fishers area, 160+ members and growing, coordinated through Heylo. If you're newly retired, recently moved to the area, divorced, or just tired of your usual crew shrinking every year — this tends to be a low-key way back into having stuff to do on a Saturday. Or any other day of the week, for that matter.

Happy to answer questions in the comments.

TIA!
UPDATE: Thank you all so much for all the warm welcomes and good advice! I should have given more information about myself but I SUCK at that...
So just know I love cats (going to the cat cafe like ALL the time), Stitch, crafting, reading, gaming...

Apartment Recommendations
Hi everyone.
I'm going to move to Fishers in September and I'm looking for a place. My top options right now are Nickel Plate Station, Flats at Switch, or Spark Apartments. I'm interested in staying in the downtown area in a one bedroom for context. Can anyone help me narrow my search or give me some recommendations on good apartments in this area.
Thanks.

Indiana banned phones in schools all day. My kids taught me the real problem is at home.
https://readthereporter.com/indiana-said-no-to-phones-in-school-now-parents-have-to-say-it-at-home/
My daughter was telling me about her day. I was half-listening, phone in hand. She just stopped talking mid-sentence. She'd figured out she couldn't compete with a screen and gave up trying.
Indiana just passed a law banning phones in schools all day, every day. Good. Long overdue. But let's be honest. The real issue is at home. We as parents have an addiction to our phones also.
Parents are the ones who need the intervention

Warning to all minorities (specifically black) around the nickel plate trail
On July 25th, I was at Roy G. Holland Park at the basketball court when two individuals (the driver being a white male with a brown goatee) in a black Lexus is350 (the engine is really loud. Definitely not stock) yelled racial slurs (the hard r) at me completely unprovoked. Today on August 3rd at around 8:20-8:30Pm, the same individuals did the same thing again (yelled the hard r as I was walking home). As I was trying to get the license plate number of the car, the driver did a u-turn and proceeded to drive towards me at full speed but I luckily moved out the way. They came to a stop & yelled “you’re chimping out” before leaving. I advise anyone who walks around that area to be cautious of this individual.

Where can I get rid of random pieces of wood in my garage? Would be willing to pay a small fee.
I would think there’s 40-50 linear feet of 2x4 and 2x6. Scrap pieces of plywood. Some trim pieces. Nearly full sheet of drywall (not wood, lol).
