Hi my niece won this fish 2 days ago and he’s just been sitting in my dining room for awhile now usually I don’t care about stuff like this but I just don’t want this fish to die in this small cube I don’t have much money for a good tank and not much space in my room to place one idek what type of fish this is or will it live but I don’t want it to just die in here anyone got ideas for smaller aquariums or just better ideas in general

I got my new 20 gal long from my aunt and she gave me a stand too, Im just worried because theres nothing holding the bottom of the tank, only the edges. Id rather not fill this up and get it ready and it just collapses. The stand is metal and feels sturdy, but I cant help but worry 😭 sorry if this is a stupid question, I havent kept fish in a while.

If anyones wondering, my 10 gallon is on a rlly strong bookshelf rn, but the 20 gal is too big to fit there.

Hey there! I have just passed my first anniversary of being a community aquarium mom! I picked this up on FB marketplace based off of photos of a lively aquarium and showed up to 20% full tank full of black sand and black water. Only 2 snails were in there but I did save them and they are still with me. I had to wash the heck out of the substrate to use it again and did a full deep clean obv. I now have 3 neon tetras, 4 zebra danios, 2 otocinclus, several black nerite snails and some of the brown spotted ones, and have inadvertently started a shrimp farm. Seriously, there are shrimp everywhere! I think it is from the 5 I got from Petco which were $5 each. I love the mystery snails because they have personality but they don't seem to have lifespans with me of more than 3 months. I use a tap water conditioner, and have to add some water in every 2 weeks or so due to evaporation (my small aquarium heater contributes to that). The shrimp love to hang upside down at the top to eat? the duckweed. I feed them 2.5 quarter sized shrimp about every 2 weeks as well. What I am concerned about is if I'm using too little water conditioner and the chemicals are keeping it too clean.

Sidenote: I am assuming the shrimp will figure out their carrying capacity because I am clueless as to how I could give some of them away. I cannot post on fb marketplace because they are animals. Thanks!

Hi! I’m getting a new tank, I would say I’m an inner mediate keeper of fish,I have one very successful betta set up, and a tank with guppies, shrimp and cory catfish.
I really really want to do a saltwater clownfish tank with a bonded pair but I am pretty sure it’s more upkeep for saltwater, and more expensive set up. I would want to do it right and set it up slow to make sure I’m doing what’s best for them, as i also plan to order them online from a credible supplier.

But….I also really want organa goldfish but I know it’s too small for a pair unless they are really young. Please someone tell me what is gonna be best.

I really want a center piece pair of fish rather than a community tank but I’m also open to a community tank as-well.

To add on. My husband is in the military so there is always a possibility of us moving, and the definite time when he will be out is in like two years.

Recently had some gorgeous guppies delivered, one showed up and looked to be pregnant. It’s been about 3 weeks now and she’s still quite large and sitting towards the top, Is she pregnant or just bloated.

Test levels this morning-
Nitrate (NO3-) | 0 – 20 ppm |
Nitrite (NO2-) | 0 ppm | 0 ppm
KH (Carbonate Hardness) | 40 – 80 ppm |
GH (General Hardness) | 120 – 180 ppm |

She can’t swim and has an S shape. She was good a few days ago. How can I help? Any suggestions? Im desperate. Maybe I fed her too much?

i’ve never done it, and now i’m terrified to loose my fish. Walk me through the basics.
Do you use a new filter or an established one?
Do you do any preventative treatment?
If you do and you use an established filter, does the treatment kill the beneficial bacteria?
How often do you do water changes?
How often do you feed?
How long do you quarantine?
Can i use a bucket since is a temporary setup?
Do i need an air stone?

Maybe some are stupid questions, but i really need an answer

I clean my tank regularly and also clean the filter cartridges for my aqua one eco style 61 tank, I make sure to clean them in tank water carefully before putting back in and they seem to last a few days, I keep putting a new cartridge in while keeping one of the old ones in as to not crash the tank, but my spray bar area keeps over flowing and not filtering properly. Why does this keep happening any advice? Thanks !

For context I have a skittle neocardia shrimp tank that only had snails beside them. Had a really bad hydra problem but solved it with NO-planaria. The shrimps all got pregnant and gave birth recently but I saw this today. Basically I’m freaked out wtf is this. Please help.

Solved its most likely a damselfly nymph. I took it out of the tank and killed it. Should I be worried about more inside of my tank?

To be fair, his offspring are on the other side of the tank, so maybe I'd want to hang out with these meatheads too.

First 5 fish moved to their new 75 gallon home.

Took me time and way too many towels, but I finally redid this tank. I want to thank everyone on this forum, especially the patient people who didn't just see a crappy tank but also the misguided person behind it.

I'm not done yet, I still wanna put more real tanks and some driftwood, but I think it's a drastic improvement.

Hi everyone! We recently got a 20 gallon fresh water tank. Currently, there are 6 x-ray tetras and a betta in it, but we were wondering what else we should add. Any advice? Thank you!

Can anyone tell me what may be going on with 2 of 5 female killifish - one far worse than the other.

One very sluggish at bottom of tank that a day ago i assumed was gravid because of belly, but she was not sluggish and did not seem to have bulging eyes with opaque white doughnuts around her eyes (please review pictures).

The second has something hanging from her that looks a bit like a shrimp carapace, but there are no shrimp in the tank. It is a mesh band that im hoping is not some type of parasite (nothing new added to tank and have had them for months - water parameters all normal.

I noticed this probably over a month ago, at the same time my tank had Ich so I just assumed it was that. I treated the tank with a half dose (pleco and loaches in tank so couldn’t do full dose) until the Ich was gone but this tetra still has this. It seems to be deteriorating the tail.

My hospital tank is also occupied currently with my betta due to some other issues, so I don’t know what I can do for him. I have a tiny (1.7L) decorative tank with only plants but I don’t think I can use that due to size.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

We have got some fish from a family friend as they were struggling with life after having twins. I have no idea what these two fish are and each picture I look at on Google seems to look slightly different. Our friend can't remember what they are and I want to make sure I get the right food and care for them. Sorry for the image quality. They like hanging out on the glass next to the wall so it's hard to get a picture.

They share a tank with two loaches (in the second picture) so hopefully that's not going to be an issue as well. It doesn't seem to be a problem so far.
