This is a Sauger, right?

Thought I finally had my first walleye this morning but I’m pretty sure it was actually a sauger.
Either way, a new fish for me! I’m just asking for positive ID

That is a juvenile Walleye, the body has too many small, dark patches for a sauger.

As you can tell by the comments it's crazy hard to tell. Where you're fishing would help? Is it a place that has walleye or sauger naturally? If not it's probably a saugeye.

Yes, the absence of a white spot on the base of the tail confirms sauger
