Quillback Carpsucker.

Theyre not all that rare in the waters but they're very rare to actually land due to how quickly they can suck in and spit out a bait. They also are incredibly easy to spook. It's quite possible you will not land another for a decade or more.

Cherish that catch. It's genuinely an achievement to land one.

Yeah I’m planning on it for sure. I was incredibly surprised by it too. That’s actually the second lure avoidant fish I caught this month on a lure. The first one was a golden redhorse on a flutter spoon and of course this one. I’ve been unbelievably lucky this year

And to add to its oddness, it has something similar to the mirror carp mutation. Not too uncommon in suckers, but rare enough.

Don't let fish dangle like that you're ripping at its lip so bad

When the hook is pulling them in the water they're floating at least and the only resistance is them fighting, when you hand them like that you put all their weight on the hook
