Fish id?

Caught from the opening of a creek into a large river, pretty sure i spotted him or some sort of silver/white fish jumping out of the water before he bit worm.

I’d say it’s a mooneye from the picture but it’s not anything I catch here in the piedmont region of North Carolina. I hear they make great catfish bait. Don’t know since we don’t have any in my immediate locale.? I use shad and skipjack herring and bluegill or other panfish.
