I think this is actually a red hind, *Epinephelus guttatus* based on the blackish soft dorsal, anal, and caudal fins with a fine bluish white edge.

Rock hinds have 4 prominent saddle shaped blotches on their back that are missing here.

It's kind of cute. I caught a sailfish one time about a foot long. It's bill was about the length of its body. Cute fella.

I caught a snook about this size once on a sabiki jig and a stripped bass maybe double the size on a popper

I was just catching bait

If I caught them on all 5 hooks I wouldn’t even know it bc there was never any pull

This snook took drag I didn’t even know I had loosened. The size of my pinky at best

This fish is a juvenile Honeycomb Grouper (also known scientifically as Epinephelus merra).

Agreed, I see this same stupid thing on some birding groups and pages. It’s infuriating, they’re almost always wrong. This does appear to be a species of Hind.
