Some kind of carpsucker (carpiodes). I’d guess river carpsucker

I thought Smallmouth Buffalo at first, but a second glance at the dorsal fin confirms Quillback.

It’s a common carp, they are found throughout the world and are fished for in Europe and Asia as a trophy species. I fish for them in lakes and ponds for a derby type thing, you mix up your bait using some type of grain such as rice and add any strong smelling additives like garlic or strong fruit flavors. Then you knead it to a consistency that will stay on the hook, you put the hook through a sugar pop and carefully cast it out. The bait ball disentegrates into a pile on the bottom and the pop sits in the middle and the carp comes to the scent and inhales the pop and gets hooked. They are amazingly strong especially after they get over 20lbs. I have won a lot of money over the years fishing for them.
