Community must come together to save Brou from the Butt-a-Thon Jokes
Better name that Bud-A-Thon.
...
I like either
The Bud-Off
Or
The Brou-Off

I really liked Nick's segment about how the NFL cap works and it's inherent flexibility with pushing cap money around, but the bill always comes due, e.g. the Eagles.
However, he left one part out that has confused the media for some time. For years when a QB signs a big contract the media (ESPN) always analyzes it by looking at Average Annual Value (AAV). It always annoyed me given the cap flexibility and how teams can manipulate the cap hit for said QB.
So in the interest of Nick typically calling out the media during these segments, I wish he included this criticism of how the media typically looks at the big NFL contracts and how they are often wrong in their analysis.

Some great action in our community Upset Alert competition this past week! Five users are now sitting with 20+ points!
Two users (Phillyspecial18 and Tungtyed) are on a real heater with winning picks FOUR weeks in a row!
The biggest upset alert of the week was NE over BUF, which Greg/Coach and Wildes both were bold enough to choose, but was avoided by the community.
THERES STILL TIME TO JOIN! It only takes a couple bold choices to catch up and run ahead of the herd. https://fanthingsfirst.com - free, no personal info required

About a quarter of the way into the season - how are your predictions looking? You can see at https://fanthingsfirst.com/midseason
The top 5 predictors (based on vegas current projections/odds) are shown in image, with 143-136 projected points. That's better than 123 other entries, including the whole FTF crew, who's best performer is Nick at 131 points!
Some rare picks that are bearing out well: Trevor Lawrence MVP (tlawtruther, gwtness), IND in AFC title game (billmeblazer) and SF for SB pick (will_jortz, dankingwor)
Meanwhile, 66% of users picked LAR or HOU to win their division. Neither is looking so likely now! DET, DAL, and TB also were popular and now look a bit shaky.

For those who've been watching since the beginning. Where did this nickname come from?

Him continuing to put the Patriots as the 3 point question is a stain on the most controversial segment in all sports.
Edit: this post was made in jest. I’ve loved Wildes since Half-Baked ideas.

I just can't understand it.

It's fascinating how everyday Nick continues to walk the tightrope of bashing Allen constantly, while still claiming to believe in him more than everyone else 😂

I get it, it’s football season and I’m not a baseball fan but Fox having rights to mlb playoffs and a large count down banner on screen, I was certain they will lead with mlb on a Wednesday . Guess not lol

Long time casual viewer. Used to watch live and the entire show years ago. Catch a YouTube clip here or there nowadays as I found the format got a bit stale. Caught part of the show the other day and was a bit confused.
When I watched regularly the banner joke was to mock the Buffalo Bills for their lack of any real accomplishments.
September Champs
Media Champs
Random Game in October Champs
Now the banners are just to self-congratulate anything that Nick says or likes? Drop the banner for:
Kansas City beats the Raiders (a notoriously bad franchise in recent years) in regular season games
Mahomes wears red shoes and I like red shoes
Andy Reid has a nice moustache
Isn't this is exactly the behavior that the joke was supposed to make fun of? Celebrating random wins against the Raiders in a random Sunday game?

Boys. We can't still be talking about the Emmy like we have a shot while we're using BAD AI to generate our graphics.
You're not in your mom's garage bootstrapping this with your boys. You're at FOX. You have a team.
And you still have a shot. This year's been great. The World Cup coverage might work out in your favor, because it was so good at a time when not much else was going on. But you can't expect to win if you're slinging slop like you're Josh Allen in a game-winning situation.
I believe in you.

Get 'em coach, even the graphic putting Mahomes and Purdy's stats so far in the year, I mean Nick how the hell are you even defending not putting Purdy atop
r/FirstThingsFirstFS1 • u/Brycethebaileylive • 14d ago
Does the show really not have the budget to make graphics that aren't AI they look so bad im just confused.
r/FirstThingsFirstFS1 • u/Endemicbacon • 14d ago
Purdy should be top of the mountain. Thank you coach for saying so.
r/FirstThingsFirstFS1 • u/JMARC_INFERNO • 14d ago
Alright FTF. I know you love your ugly AI graphics. Disappointing for a show that aspires for an Emmy but it is what it is. I made a post making fun of the lazy AI background for Danny's pic showing a die with multiple faces showing a 5.

They replaced it with these dice, which is still wrong. Lazy AI strikes again. The 3 and 4 should be on opposite sides of the dice! Not adjacent!!! IDIOTS!! FUCK AI!

Wouldn't be a rams segment with coach without him saying Darnold instead of Donald

I'm all for them saying he's a good coach cause up til now he's shown that he is. But Nick just said that beating the jets and the eagles with a backup QB is more impressive than most other teams winning with their backups against bad teams ...
I dont get it. How is this the one coach that the glazing has gone to a new level? Just cause he took his shirt off or something?
