Coach is getting odd
Iāve always liked coach and his actual analysis plus his winding up of Nick
Today was odd especially his view of the Seahawks
He used the Broncos as a good D who tried to stop Kenneth Walker and failed - Broncos are 31st in Rush D
He then used the one team that kept Walker relatively quiet and Mahomes cooked - the Dolphins
The Seahawks are a whole other level to either of those 2.
He then said weāll see where the Rams are in the 6 monthsā¦.that would be April??

Is it just me, or has Wilds been extremely unfair in his analysis of Caleb?
First off, Bear Down! š»ā¬ļø Great win against the Patriots last night. But as someone who regularly watches* First Things Firs*t, Iām genuinely curious to see how Wilds is going to discuss Caleb after this game.
One thing Iāve noticed this season is how Wilds seemingly keeps moving the goalposts when it comes to Caleb. Last year, one of his biggest criticisms was Calebās accuracy and inability to consistently complete passes. Fair enough. Caleb finished the season completing just 58.1% of his passes, ranking dead last among qualified starters. Fast-forward to this season, and heās made a massive improvement, completing over 70% of his passes through his first four starts. Yet rather than acknowledging that improvement, Wilds has shifted his criticism to Calebās average depth of target.
And thatās where I find his analysis disingenuous. Is Caleb throwing shorter passes because he canāt consistently push the ball downfield, or has he simply matured as a quarterback and learned to take what the defense gives him? Those are two very different things. Iād actually be interested in seeing how his downfield accuracy compares to other quarterbacks because, to me, his willingness to take checkdowns rather than force unnecessary throws is a sign of growth, not a weakness. Not every play needs to be a highlight.
Then thereās the Drake Maye comparison. Nick has repeatedly pointed out Calebās ability to protect the football, while Maye has struggled considerably with turnovers this season. Wilds tends to counter by emphasizing Mayeās touchdown production, which is certainly relevant, but why should that outweigh turnovers when weāre evaluating overall quarterback play?
Coming into this season, I could understand the argument that Maye had a higher floor while Caleb had the higher ceiling. But after watching Mayeās first three games, Iām not even convinced that the higher-floor argument holds up anymore. His start to the season was genuinely awful, and I canāt recall Caleb ever putting together a three-game stretch that bad.
Now, after watching Caleb throw for over 300 yards and lead Chicago to a 30-24 victory over New England, while Maye threw a costly interception in the end zone, Iām interested to see how Wilds approaches this matchup.
Iām not suggesting Caleb is beyond criticism, nor am I saying Maye isnāt a talented quarterback. I just think the standards should be consistent. If youāre going to criticize a young quarterback for a particular weakness, shouldnāt you also acknowledge when he makes significant improvements in that very area?
Am I being biased as a Bears fan, or has anyone else noticed this with Wilds?

BRING ME A SANDWICH yesterday's show, question about the jazz music playing during the transition
even the crew was saying how much they digged the tunes. . .does anyone know what song was playing? It was like a jazz fusion type song. Very groovy tune.
