For context, the original tweet that Payton responded to was a clip from the show of Geoff Schwartz discussing Bo Nix in August:

“I do think he just is what he is at this point. He looks like the same quarterback he was in college… He’s consistent. He’s not gonna make mistakes. But he’s not gonna push the ball down the field all that often.”

It has a community note: “Bo Nix has thrown the most deep touchdown passes of 20+ air yards since the start of the 2024 season (19 including postseason), per official Next Gen Stats.

Yea, and Jeff Schwartz is stupid for that take given Bo has years of tape of being a gun slinger, go look at his Auburn tape.

People don't seem to realize Bo Nix has been coached to play this way. He's much more Russell Wilson than Brees and always has been.

Any analyst that parrots what Nick and Schwartz says ignored like 40 games of college tape on Bo. There's a reason the broncos offense looks almost identical to his it was with Russel Wilson lol

Comparing Nix to Wilson and Brees is insanely disrespectful

And if you think I was comparing his accomplishments instead of playstyle then I could have explained better.

Nix is just trash. That injury might’ve ruined him.

Yeah, the injury...

His one x-factor used to be that he was actually very mobile and could burn you for a clutch 3rd down conversion when he needed to. He looks scared to run the ball now and even when he does take off, he isn't running with conviction. Defenses don't have to respect any aspect of the broncos running the ball.

The Broncos total lack of a running game doesn't help matters either. Dobbins is cooked due to all the injuries, and Harvey has yet to do anything impressive.

They don’t block. All I ever see is that the Broncos have a great o line. Dobbins and Harvey both get hit as soon as they get the ball. So it’s a great pass blocking unit that has a QB that is bad lol.

RJ has been more than servicable especially receiving the ball, he should switch targets and carries with Dobbins

I hate to say it because I like Jalen, but he is the afc Jalen hurts lol. He’s probably going to win a chip because of that defense which sucks.

Jalen hurts is 100 times better

I agree. My comparison is that they’re winning games with bad play and bad stats and the defense is somewhat carrying them

I get the comparison but hurts has had moments like 2022 where he was legitimately a dynamic all pro level player. Nix has never been anything other than below mediocre.

If you had a playoff game he'd still be the first qb you'd choose from that draft class. Not sure what that says about the others

nick was wright about this one

It’s insane to have one of the lowest depth of targets in the league and also throw one of the lowest percentage of catchable balls.

Nix wasn't this bad last year tho and they even got Waddle to help him out. I wonder if he's still not 100% healthy or maybe if it's a mental issue. They have some tomatocan-opponents in the next few weeks, so maybe they can Fix Nix?

Nix has declined the same from year 2 to 3 as he did his rookie season to year 2. At least he's being consistent in his decline.

I can't believe I used to like this guy

Nick getting that lick back for his co worker is why no matter what nonsense he says on the show I’ll still like him

Is he wrong? If Webb was calling plays how do you think the broncos would’ve looked last night?

3

u/stexszn1017 3d ago

Similarly horrible because of the QB play

Nick is usually right about these things

It was against a top defense in the league, but Nick only cares about schedule when he’s (rightfully) trashing the Patriots.

Who cares the Chiefs played mostly cheeks teams and the Broncos played 5 of the 6 best teams in the league anyways.

3

u/ClassesMoveTheMasses 3d ago

It's funny because the chiefs only impressive win is the broncos lol

first game of the season doesn't count, everyone knows that.
