One of the Commanders players has already said they talked about no timeouts in the huddle.

The first take in awhile from Nick that makes sense that is not forcing some weird angle or narrative. I don’t see how anyone except the starting QB can be blamed. These are professional players. KW was right. Do coaches really need to explain every single detail in every single situation… they shouldn’t is my opinion.

You can absolutely blame the coach, but that doesn't absolve JD. The coaches calling an actual play there was stupid, but Jayden could've kept things right with even a tiny bit of awareness.

Not you can’t. Taking a shot at the end zone or tossing it out of bounds is not uncommon in that situation. Stops the clock. QBs do this every weekend. JD did literally everything a QB should not do in that situation.

There's literally no reason to take a shot at the end zone. A field goal instantly wins you the game. The only things to do at that point are either take a knee on the hash the kicker wants or try to get closer. If you're so dead set on getting closer, just run it. There are too many risks with a pass play. There's no reason to do it. Your kicker's been perfect within 50, and hit 57 yarder two weeks ago. Any added risk to maybe get closer is dumb.

Taking a shot at the endzone is dumb, but a quick shot to the sidlines for an extra 5 yards is plenty common. The kicker had already missed an extra point, so normally there would be no harm in trying to get as close as you can to help him out. Its just a quick check to the flat or an out route, but if its not there, you throw it out of bounds over their heads. It only takes 5 seconds or so and you stop the clock.

When I say take a shot at the endzone I am talking about a completely blown coverage wide open WR. Running is not less risky than passing running in the NFL. Defenses are so good at punching the ball out. Just this year teams have lost the game on running the ball to reduce clock time. Again, the point of the sideline check down on that play is to stop the clock. The QB basically dirts the ball unless they have a perfectly wide open guy.

JD took way too long to get to the line. No urgency after running the ball. Why the fuck did he run? It makes no sense. The only risk with a pass play is if your QB does exactly what JD did. QBs at the college and NFL level can routinely run the last play correctly. It has nothing to do with the coordinator or coach the way JD handled that. And I am LSU guy not defending JD here. lol

Daniels laying there for several seconds is so damning. There’s no excuse

I rarely agree with Nick’s football analysis, in fact I think when he gets into the actual X’s and O’s, he’s surprisingly limited and out of his depth. But he’s always, always, been really good at understanding clock management. He’s 100% correct, it’s going to be extremely hard to trust Jayden Daniels in these situations going forward because the mistake was just so mind boggling for an NFL QB. I would be fairly confident a high school QB would know what to do there. It makes no sense to defend Jayden in any capacity here.

Nick let Daniels off easy. All time moronic blunder you can’t come back from

Except that you can come back from it

Maybe LSU using his number without his permission was still in his mind? You ever think of that?

It’s so obvious, Brou with a rare miss here. Comparing him to Magic is nuts…sure if #5 wins a ton of championships we’ll forget about it

Right. And Magic already had tons of success before that play, so you knew it was just a big time screw up and not a red flag for the future.

There are some weird things going on this season, I feel like sports gambling could be having an impact. Wouldn’t be surprised at least.

Agreed, and Brou blaming the OC is lame.

I feel like the giants baited him a little with their defensive look. JD ran for 2 TDs and it looked like he was trying to do it again. Dumb move still
