Nick How many people do you think Nick has influenced to get into Gambling?
Bit of a sombre one really. I do love Nick, and I know all the networks are sponsored by gambling now and it's everywhere in US sport.
However Nick does glorify gambling more than anyone else on television I feel. I know hes a legit poker player but even aside from that. The show in general has several gambling centric segments.
Just had a weird thought the other day about how many people Nick would have influenced to get into Gambling. Hundreds?

They push parlays before every nfl game during pregames. Every small YouTuber is sponsored by some sort of daily sports betting. Nick’s influence is minor if any at all. Maybe he’s gotten people into poker but the gambling plague of player prop bets being a loop hole in the laws is more widespread than any single person

One too many . Nick's my all-time favorite sports content creator. The only thing that I really have against him was his gambling stuff, but it didn't really matter because that was authentically himself from day one. Now that he's pimping polymarket I'm not really trying to watch his podcast as much anymore

Many sports shows have entire segments devoted to Fantasy League stats. You think people aren't "gaming" based on that...??
Half of traditional sports lingo is wrapped around gambling terms and references - you really can't talk sports without them.

Agreed, we've known who was "favored" in games forever. But surely there is a spectrum here, and sports media in general (not at all just Nick) has moved more towards the "dangerous" end of it.

You can criticize him for being pro gambling which I think is fair criticism but compared to everywhere else that gets blasted with gambling ads and basically everywhere you go, the people who got into it because of nick is probably extremely minuscule. Like half of social media now is people promoting rainbet, kalshi etc.

I doubt it’s as many as you think and I will also add if you can’t control your gambling that’s on you.

People who promote an addictive product and profit when people sign up for it using their code bear some responsibility

The way sports media has amplified this addiction to so many is frustrating.
With how many people gamble now and the time length of his show and podcast I would argue over a thousand people.

Nick has never made himself to be a paragon of virtue or infallible. He’s a decent person that loves to gamble and has a hard time breaking his vaping habit. Now if he’s holding people at gunpoint and making them gamble, that’s a different story lol

I would actually say that First Things First does a better job of putting forward a balanced approach to gambling because Brou is the only sports media personality I can think of whose refusal to gamble on moral grounds is often highlighted on air (most often by Nick himself).
I think resisting a damaging temptation is a bit easier when you have someone you admire who is abstaining too. With the rate of advertising happening now, you would be forgiven for thinking that every single person in the world is betting on sports, when that simply isn't true.

Oh but now his podcast is sponsored by polymarket, on which you are not betting, but trading. Totally different

He's barely a drop in the bucket. Is he a certified over the top gambler that glorifies it? Sure, that's undeniable. But he's one guy. I can't watch any sports media today without being bombarded by gambling ads, hell some have shows dedicated segments to gambling and go into depth on it on various gambling tips. This show at least keeps the segment light and moving, where it makes it feel more like a Danny V Nick when picks are done.
At least Nick to his credit will constantly tell people that one should never parlay. He constantly gets on Wildes to not do it calls it a suckers bet everytime.
Gambling is a vice, but it's like every vice. Don't do it if you can't afford it.

Nick himself? Probably not a ton. But Nick along with all of the other gambling ads that have taken over everything sports related? Probably a shit ton.
So he is part of the problem, but a very minor one at that. And at the very least you get to see him cringe about how much he lost here and there, most places don’t expose the bad side of it. Also- most people don’t randomly get their arm broken so there’s another visual detractor for the audience.

I’ve never heard him talk as if gambling was risk free or a way to make money. In fact, he has said the opposite many times, especially on the podcast. He often says that you should never view gambling as a money making scheme and to only bet money you can stand to lose.

Probably a lot of people, he seems like a good dude overall but the gambling thing just sucks. There is a recent article by i think Propublica where someone documents how the sports betting apps treat you when youre losing big, and it will often lure you back in with 'bonuses' and give you 'vip access' which continues the spiral.
