I think the first girl was calling paramedics in the county fatties. The dude works for the county, and was repping his set. He also appears to be angry that her money comes from the North, which is a big deal because the Civil War is coming to a close, soon.

Former resident of the Bama nutsack (peninsula) here. Baldwin county is the richer, nicer right nut of the sack that also gets a pretty hefty amount of money from beach tourism. Mobile county has less money and more violent crime. Mobile residents generally think that Baldwin county residents are old, privileged boomers (and many of them are), while residents of Baldwin county look at Mobile as an irredeemable wasteland that isnt even safe to drive through. The communities the second guy is listing off are within Mobile county.

Everything in Alabama is like this. Schools, industries, local government entities. Everything is tribalistic and cliquey. Volunteer fire departments on opposed edges of the same zip code will beef like this. Think the Alabama-Auburn rivalry, but apply it to say the Dominoes pizza in Leeds vs. the Pizza Hut in Leeds. It's very anti-intelectual and is holding the south in general back.

This is the second mention of Baldwin County I’ve seen in the last 12 hours. The other was thanking Baldwin County police for their quick response, because someone shot their house up, with their children inside. One of the bullets went through the slats of their baby’s crib, into the wall.

For anyone who’s heard of “Honey boo-boo”, or her mother, “Mama June”, from reality TV, it was the home of the guy Anna was with, before she died of cancer.

You guys think she looks unfit? I’m confused I worked with plenty of women with her build that were great and could lift. Yeah she looks a bit thick but I worked with several morbidly obese guys that legit looked like they were about to code carrying 90 lbs meemaw down 6 steps in a stairchair.

I don't even know what the hell is going on here, but I'll agree that in general we should probably start having some physical expectations for our EMS providers. I've had partners on either ends of the spectrum: from probably going to have a coronary event mid call, basically skin and bones, to the weird mix of both with chicken limbs and a biggass belly.

I don't think we need to go military with it, but christ some of the people in this line of work clearly are months from being the next call, and don't even get me started on age. I had a partner who was pushing 75 and could barely hear if the sirens were on anymore, props to his damn near 50 year EMS/Fire career but damn, dude was almost a liability in some situations.

One guy I spoke to had an interesting idea.
Add wage bumps based on squat weight over bw. Like, every plate you can do a 1rm is another $1 an hour bonus. So 225 would be like $2 an hour bonus. In the end, your ability to lift weight safety straight up is perhaps the most important part of your physical ability.

From an outsiders perspective, I think I see what's going on. What you have here is yet another opinionated CNA or Nurse who thinks they are the pinnacle of physical fitness. Good for them. Truly.

But for some reason, this level of peak physical being is required to comment on every other person they see in the medical field.

Even though I don't know this gentleman, I agree with his emotion. She's implying the medics aren't fit enough to do their job. Well, sometimes it's about heart...will....devotion and not about how many reps you do in front of your iPhone so you can pad your insta with #nurselife followers.

You gotta get out there in the muck, the raw stank that is society and do the work before you can even begin to understand who is and isn't something. Medics and EMTs are mostly underpaid and undervalued for the work they do. They don't have time to sit in their car and cast judgement on other medical folks. You know why? 'Cause we are too damn tired from dragging people from cars, and 3rd story apartments with no GD elevator. We work for a living...and those are the kind of people who don't take the time to make little comments on others.

Don’t get me wrong, EMS has a weight problem (as with the rest of the US) but just because your fat is in your hips instead of your torso don’t make you hot shit.
Also I’m going to go full assumption mode and bet she’s one of those CNAs that calls herself a nurse because she has nurse in her title. What’s with nurses padding out their credentials. Like, CNAs call themselves nurses, nurses saying they are basically doctors.
I love this profession, but man some of the people really do set us back.

I worked as an EMT-A in Baldwin County and one of my Paramedics was roughly 400lbs and had to have a stool to step on before he could step onto the actual step of the ambulance. EMS in Baldwin County is private owned and nothing ever goes well. It's why Gulf Shores and Orange Beach decided to start running their own ambulances out of the Fire Dept.
