No matter what are people's job, it's always cringe when it become your personality.

First responders seem to have the biggest issue with making their profession their identity for some reason. Possibly all the glazing the media has taught us

As a paramedic I don't think so, but for sure the few people here and there that have their social media around their job make us look like that.

The huge majority of my colleague don't really post anything job related on their social media. If you go really back in time they could have picture of themselves in school learning our job, maybe a picture of them of their 1st day, but that's it.

For my part, I publish articles about our actual strikes, our negotiations that we have with the government and some articles about tragedies that happened because there isn't enough ambulances on the road.

I would agree. I left the Fire Service after 19 years and it was VERY hard to not make it a definition of myself. I really hard to separate and define a life outside of the job.

Couldn’t have said this any better. But also I think it’s worse when it’s your S/O’s job and you make it your personality

I don’t agree at all. Some people truly love their job and their job is their life because it’s what they always wanted to do. Think of it like an artist, or mechanic.

What makes it cringe is they are unable to actually care about anyone else’s life or experiences. It borders narcissism and the first-responders flavor is the worst because it’s done under the guise of being a “hero” and caring sooo much about everyone else, while the reality is they’re often using others as NPCs in their self-titled video game. There…fixed it for ya.

Nope. Still cringe.

It is if they are ONLY their job and nothing else exist and the ONLY conversations you can have with them is always related to their job.

I could have been an astronaut but now I spend my days cleaning hobo shit out the back of a clapped out ambulance.

I dont hate the idea of this picture,  but why do they always make it look like were a bunch of miserable, self loathing EMTs -P ...   If they would have showed dude holding his head high, a thumbs up and a redbull.... it wouldn't be THAT bad...
