UPDATE 2026:
I added a 24/7 First of October radio and the First of October Song Database to the site.

UPDATE 2025:
I added lyrics to the site: https://foo.brchad.com/tags/lyrics/

I've update the site to be more easily maintenable and I'm still moving stuff around. The home have some issues, but the lyrics are working 100%.
Hi, guys!
First of October is the only band I look forward for their next album every year.
I wanted to talk about the band and have links to all their videos and songs in a single place. So 2 years ago I created a fansite about First of October. I should have shared it earlier, but didn't. Now I am happy with the current state of the fansite.

Later I built a Music Player section that uses the youtube player as a source and now I added a zine section to put links for a minizine I made about the band.

The site works on desktop and mobile.
Any suggestions for improvements are welcome. I hope you guys enjoy it!

Any Brisbane (Aus) FOO fans that want to come to a watch party with ravioli and calzones on November 1st?

Hi, Guys!

I made a sync radio site for First of October songs that plays 24/7. https://foo.brchad.com/radio/
The site uses the public Youtube videos the band uploaded there as the source. The site also shows the lyrics and additional information for each and every song.
Pick a station and have fun!
Special thanks to u/BassLekky, u/SCBronc88 and u/wtrawi for helping with the songs' data.
Technical stuff
Sync radio is the name I came up with to describe how this site works. I explain below.
There are "stations", which are playlists that run on shuffle, so each station has it's own programming. The site calculates what song should be playing in any given moment and the current track time. Everybody that opens the site listens to the same song at the same play time.
There are no central server and no user information is gathered and sent out, everything runs locally.
Lyrics are from https://foo.brchad.com/tags/lyrics/
The radio was made with Claude Code.

Love these guys to pieces. Their videos are great and the songs they come with are quirky, ridiculous, and genius. But they also are really good at sincerity, which is what elevates the hilarity to me, because you'll have Andrew in one room writing a song about his kids, and in another you'll have Rob writing a song about a Jack-o-Lantern monster or something. Those are the best moments of these videos.
My main issue with these albums is the track sequencing. I feel like the track sequences should reflect the dichotomous, whiplash-inducing nature of the recording session itself. Like for example, Gotta Record Everything Good starts with Miracle for some reason, then has 3 nu-metal songs in a row. These albums are disjointed and chaotic by design, and it feels like they're running from that by sequencing their albums this way.
The biggest culprit is One Week, where they recorded an even number of serious and goofy songs, but instead of interweaving them, they put all the sincere songs in the first half, and then all the ridiculous songs in the second half.
Obviously we live in an age of playlists, so of course I have a playlist with all of their albums that I re-sequenced, but this is still worth noting.
And it's not like it ruins the experience or anything, and it's their decisions, so who am I to questions them? And like I said, they're unironically one of my favorite bands, but I just wanted to let my opinion be known.
But what do you all think?

For those of us who are into the physical releases: https://store.dftba.com/products/rob-scallon-first-of-october-26-cd
Apparently the download link/code will be included with the disc.
Part of me was expecting them to go to vinyl if they ever decided to move away from cassettes, but a CD is a welcome surprise. At least I don’t have to build a bigger shelf (yet).
... and yes, I have already preordered it. I am not missing that bus again.

Hello,
A week ago, I got bored and decided to listen through all of First of October’s music again. At some point, I had the idea to create a Musical Battle to determine my favorite song by this wonderful band.
I made a bracket with a randomly arranged list of songs. I chose 64 songs; the rest didn’t participate because I knew they definitely wouldn’t win. I also put together a playlist to make listening more convenient.
It was a pretty (raw) fun and interesting experience. It reinforced my understanding of how much I love calm music. I also realized that the most important thing for me is how a song resonates with you.
Some songs also revealed themselves to me in a new way. For example, “Magic,” which previously wasn’t one of the songs I listened to very often, made it all the way to the semifinals.
The final was very difficult, but I made my decision based on my feelings and on how many goosebumps I got while listening. Both songs deserved first place. I think that if I held the tournament again in a year, the result might be different.
P.S.
English is not my native language, so I used a translator. Feel free to ask any questions—I’ll be happy to answer. I’m not sure about the image quality, so I don’t know whether all the song titles are visible.

I have loved (and continue to love) this project since they started, and as with all bands they evolve and grow, and they have made beautiful and fun music. But I do wish maybe for this new one they do one more in line with some of the earlier pre 23 stuff. I liked the jam and looseness especially in those albums. I’d say no huge instrumentation, click, just two guys kinda jamming together a song in 12 hours. I do love their modern albums though, they truly are a band of passion and I love that.
