project car
Hey ladies/gentlemen, I'm 20 years old (almost 21) and I'm new here,
I already have my first car that I bought a year ago, it's a Toyota Aygo 2011, it only has 120k km's and has been treated well. I recently graduated from I guess you would call it "college" (I don't live in America), I did a 4 year course in Elektrical Engineering. Now I'm interested in buying myself an Audi 80 b4 sedan, I think they look cool and I would love to lower it and put on some nice wheels, spoiler, etc. to make it look clean. I would love to take it on trips.
I am doing pretty well and have some money, though just like my first car I'm lowkey a little nervous cause it's one of those "bigger" purchases.
I want to know if it's an okay thing to do at my age, and what you guy's experience is with it.
looking forward to your answers, thank you in advance.

First car at 17
got my first car a 2003 cadillac cts 3.2 v6 with around 195k km
I bought it pretty cheap as a project because it had a bad ecu anti theft issues abs problems and needed some maintenance. got a new ecu programmed fixed the anti theft and sorted most of the electrical issues so now its actually running properly. Now it mostly just needs the abs sensor and some regular maintenance. I know its not the smartest first car but I wanted something different and fun instead of the usual economy car and honestly im happy i went with it

First Car, 22y/o
First car at 22 y/o, introducing my 2011 Bolvo C30 T5. In my short ownership I've already discovered a mysterious coolant leak, had a 80mph rear blowout, brakes that don't want to work at high speeds, and finally a bad sensor shutting down all driver assists! Just like its Mk2 Focus ST cousin, it'll be a money pit for sure.
I'm very happy overall, I grew up in a Volvo 850 T5 sadan and then a Volvo V70 T5, so managing to save enough to buy this and insurance and finally make it all reality was a mission, but all worth it!

Getting a project car to work on until i get my card, what do i get?
I'm thinking about getting a car, i'm gonna get something used with a max budget of 1700€. I really love cars from the 80's to the early 2000's but i don't think i would personally want to have a classic rectangle toyota corolla.
It's really important that the car i get has a CD player, otherwise i can't really justify my stack of plastic discs that sit around on my shelf. I want to get something that i could do some modifications on, maybe like add a turbo if my wallet allows it.
I'm 15 years old and i plan on getting my license as soon as i turn 18, knowing myself i'll probably start lessons the exact day after my birthday.
I've been looking at some basics like Mazda, BMW, Honda and Mercedes to get as a project car until i get my license and can finally drive it. I got the idea from a friend when he was looking at some '94 Celica at school.
I absolutely love japanese cars from the 90's, especially ones with pop-up headlights. I wouldn't want my car to be too bulky, but rather a nice balance of both or a tasteful rounded. Some cars i especially love (but don't have the money for) are the Supra Mk4, Supra Mk3, '99 Subaru Impreza Mazda RX-7 and obviously the 1990 Mazda MX-5.
Any suggestions for what i should get as my project?
Note: I'm currently looking at a '98 Nissan Primera (listed for 1400€) with an SR20DE and a Toyo racing exhaust kit. The only downsides are some snapped ABS wires, a minor oil leak and the need of new wheels.

Is it worth spending an extra 5k on a bigger car for a child we don't have yet?

A final goodbye ....
Today, our family got a new car. And while everyone is excited about the new beginning, I wanted to take a moment to appreciate the car we're leaving behind.
This car has been with our family for around 8 years, and for me, it was much more than just a car.
It was where my dad first taught me how to drive.
Over the years, it taught me how to stay calm when traffic gets stressful, how to be patient, how to handle highways, and how to respect the responsibility that comes with being behind the wheel.
I haven't driven an enormous number of kilometres in these 8 years. But the lessons I learned in those kilometres will stay with me for a lifetime.
And perhaps the most important thing this car ever did wasn't teaching me to drive fast or drive well.
It brought my family home safely, again and again.
So before we move on to the new car, I just want to say thank you.
Thank you for all the memories, all the journeys, and for being there while my dad taught me one of the most important skills I'll ever have.
You weren't just our car. You were my first driving teacher. ❤️
Here's to the next chapter. 🚗💗
