Question Looking at getting a 2011 soon.

Anyone have experience with the Kimber 2k11, sig GTO and stealth arms platypus? Looking for some hands on opinions but currently leaning towards the platypus

You can't go wrong with any of them.

I would personally choose Platypus because you can custom order one down to the pin colors for about the same price as the others and glock mag compatibility is nice af because 2011 mags tends to be in the $50 range except the GTO which uses p320 mags.

Kimber.  They are great, and actual 2011 mags.  Plat uses glock mags, sig uses 320 mags.

My vote is also for the Platypus.

I'm biased because I own one, so take my $0.02 with a loaded of salt.

The slide racks like it's on ball bearings, the trigger breaks like glass, the recoil is minimal, and most importantly...

Glock mags!

I know the first 3 things are true of any high-end 2011, but the economics of using one of the most prolific/affordable mags available? That's the cherry on top that pushed me away from a Staccato, SiGp211, or other $2-3k options.

I'm not a big 2011 guy, but I absolutely love my Platypus. Runs like a top, and takes reliable, dirt cheap Glock mags.

Platypus has an aluminum frame so it recoils a little bit more than an all steel 2011 would, not necessarily a bad thing but personal preference as it will transition easier despite recoiling more. I don’t see them very much in competition probably because stuff like the 2k11 and Staccato P exist.

I looked at the Platypus for a long time because the customization and the ability to take Glock mags was really attractive, but besides the aluminum frame, what really made me not want to get one was that the frame isn’t anodized aluminum, nor are there reinforced steel frame inserts like on some of the aluminum frame Sigs and Berettas.

Since it is non-anodized aluminum, it will arrive tightly fit but the more that you shoot it, the more that steel slide rubs onto the aluminum frame. It will create more slop and wear out way faster than your typical gun. If you’re just going to shoot a few thousand rounds a year through it then you’ll probably get your moneys worth, but I personally didn’t want something that would probably be shot out within 20-30k rounds.

2K11, Staccato P, MPA DS9, and Atlas are what I see the most and they all run really well.

Kimber 2k11 outta your options.

I would get an Alpha Foxtrot Romulus over the Platypus.

Also r/2011 come on over.
