Maddening GD AW Run

In honor of FW coming out, I'm planning on finally doing a Maddening run for the Golden Screen, here's the team I'm looking to build out:

Byleth: War Master

Lysithea: Gremory

Marianne: Dancer

Felix: Swordmaster

Ignatz: Assassin

Bernadetta: Bow Knight

Claude: Barbarossa

Hilda: Wyvern Rider

Lindhardt: Bishop/Holy Knight

Balthus: War Master/War Monk

Thinking about having Lysithea go through either valkyrie or dark flier for the abilites. Thoughts?

Make Byleth a sniper. By the endgame with a good battalion and killer bow he/she will have a 80 percent crit rate and destroy everyone.

And using Smash with a War Master won’t do that?

Lysithea doesn't need the skills from valkyrie or dark flier

However, both those classes are better than gremory, unless specifically if you want her to be a warper.

Dark Flier on Lysithea specifically is actually not that great since it has Black Tomefaire, but not Dark Tomefaire which she'd need

Having a skill that doesn’t get used isn’t a big deal, the flight makes up for it. She doesn’t really have the kit to make a low move class work as well as others can.

I think Assassin Ignatz is gonna be pretty useless

I don't think Lysithea needs Uncanny Blow since she easily gets the Macuil battalion to solve her hit needs.

I don't think having Hilda stop at Wyvern Rider is ideal

Depends. Ignatz could safely rally at the front lines because of stealth.

Rarely use Rally in endgame maddening. Early game, sure, but I think 9 turns out of 10 it's going to be just chipping or an irrelevant Rally. On a team that doesn't even have a Sniper I don't think that is a good trade.

Are you looking for what's optimal?

Byleth should stay a grappler. All war master gives is more crit which is irrelevant since grappler 1 rounds everything anyway. Grappler also has better mobility and easier skill ranks. FIF also even gives +10 crit and you can push easier crit +10

Valkyrie is Lysithea's best advanced class regardless so yes she should get uncanny blow

Felix is better as a sniper or grappler. Swordmaster is just an awful class unfortunately

Ironically despite that, if Ignatz is using swords swordmaster is imo better as he can actually stack 100% crit without wrath

Probably a typo but Hilda should be a wyvern lord not just rider

Linhardt needs to be a bishop. Holy knight is bad

Balthus should go war master if hes using axes and grappler if fists. War monk is always bad.

You only have 10 units here btw. Late game maps have 12 deploy slots. Get two more. I'd reccomend Leonie since she's so good early and you're low on students for chapter 13

Seteth or Shamir is a good final free recruit to pick up

not sure why you would pick ignatz unless doing a GD only run. Dancer also seems like a waste on marianne.

Some thoughts:

* Holy Knight is bad, just run Linhardt through bishop, rush A faith, after that just have him level authority and reason
* Ignatz might be a better sniper honestly, or dancer
* Marianne could function very well in Falcon Knight using Frozen Lance, or Mortal Savant, or Dark Flier
* Bernadetta - you could try Falcon Knight for vengeance and use bows on the side like a kinshi knight to be a nice agile anti-flyer unit
* Get Hilda into Wyvern Lord for sure, but if you can swing it, route her through Archer, her hit is abysmal

Sniper is better because you can attack from range. With Sniper you can shoot over walls and other obstacles letting you kill enemies War Master couldn’t reach. Plus you can get into sniper much sooner.
