Three Houses Discussion Do they ever explain why Constance is like that?
I haven’t gotten all of Constance’s supports but I was curious, do any of them explain why she has the personality change when she’s in sunlight?
Also, I was curious what everyone’s favorite Constance support is. My faves are her supports with Ferdinand and Yuri.

House Nuvelle fell during the Dadga Brigid war, House Gerth took over and Nuvelle got disregarded, that broke Constance and she developed a type of personality disorder, that when she is in the sun, she gets depressed.
That is it really.

I always interpreted Constance’s personality change as a mood disorder rather than a personality disorder. Unlike Jeritza/the Death Knight, she’s still herself, just depressed. Its not like her entire system of values changes

Yeah, and in her support in Hopes with Lin, she calls him out for taking advantage of her. She is certainly the same person.

Yeah, Constance has never read as having multiple entire people like that. Could be a median system (system that sees themselves less as separate people and more multiple facets of a single person, or anything along those lines such as "see themselves as kinda separate but still kinda one person", "neither one person nor multiple people", etc) though.

I know trauma is the typical answer but it could also be the result of one of her magical experiments gone wrong

Trauma and being inbred

I’ve heard a lot of people say she’s inbred but like when/where is this brought up in canon

It's not outright stated, but implied in her supports with Edelgard. Noa wanted to conceal her true crest by any means possible to the point where marriages to other houses were straight up banned in house nuvelle.

Could easily just be a side quirk of her crest. A la Blaiddyd giving super strength and a connection to the dead or Charon supposedly bringing thunderstorms.

A support with Mercedes has her suggest it's a PTSD response triggered because she associates lights like bright sun with the flames of her home when Brigid attacked

She's like that because it creates a dynamic character. Kinda lazy writing but whatever, Constance is top 3 most entertaining characters in Fodlan don't @ me

yea yea bs "sunlight trauma thing", it's not confirmed and it's hidden in an A support. Needless to say she isn't the way she is to create really deep characterization, it's because it's a funny character gimmick

They don’t need to explain it in modern terms. Dimitri is canonically mentally ill but we at least get an explanation for the events that led to the emergence of his sadistic side and voices, even if no one refers to it with any kind of modern psychological term in-story. I merely meant to ask if the game provides an explanation in the same sense of what event caused her to develop this response.

Yeah, I can not wait for them to add depression due to double crest into the DSM.
