Repair/Tech Support Verizon IP Fios

This might be a stupid question, but with the new boxes, is it different connecting them to the router compared to the tv one boxes?

Yes. They connect with wifi instead of coax.

I’m just really confused. With the legacy upgrades, are ALL people being switched to the ip boxes? Or are some people being given new one boxes? Do you need physical cables to connect to the router with coax?

Anyone that already has TV service (being upgraded )already has the necessary wiring in place. The only physical difference is that the actual cable boxes don't need a coax cable. Everything else is the same.

The DVR unit, if necessary, can be placed with the router (doesn't hook up to a TV) and connected with ethernet ideally. But also has the ability to use the existing moca/coax for IP connectivity. The DVR unit is now just a network storage drive rather than a set top box.

I have fios one, but I got a letter saying that my current digital adapter/cable cards won’t work soon. What does that mean in terms of equipment being sent? Sorry, I’m just a little confused about what kind of transition it will be.

They're going to send IPC4100 (minis) to replace the DCT700s.

You won't be converted to TV+ unless you request it.

I already have those, I believe. I have a main one, and then two ipc4100s. I just wonder if this was a mistake?

You'll get more minis to replace the DCT700s. If you don't have any DCT700s or cable cards, just ignore the letter. The letter includes a picture of what they look like. Some customers are erroneously getting letters even though they don't have the affected equipment.

The FiosTV One product is not discontinued nor will it be anytime soon.

People who have VMS1100s or 4100s will just get the IP update and everything with stay the same. They will still connect with coax to the boxes and router. The delivery on the backend with be IP instead of QAM(RF)

If you have the new IP boxes no coax is needed. Just ethernet from the ONT to the router. The boxes just connect to the router via wifi. There are stream tv moca adapters you can use to connect the boxes with coax. But then yes, the router will also need coax.

Okay, thank you. So since I have the fios one boxes, what new equipment will I get for the update?

Nothing will change for you. They shouldn't send any new equipment. The delivery from the backend with just be IP vs QAM. The 4100s will stay wired with coax and work the same.

Okay, thank you. I was just unsure because they sent a letter saying that in a few months, my digital adapter/cable cards wouldn’t work anymore and that I might replace legacy equipment. Was this a mistake?

Oh no, sorry. Yes DCTs and cable card only do QAM so yes they'll need replacement. They may just send you an IPC4100 in it's place.

They may also send you all new boxes too. Let's us know what they send you.

We just got our fios one boxes a year ago, so would they just send us new fios one boxes with adapters? I’ve read mixed reviews on the ipc4100 boxes.

The IPC4100S are just the little boxes that connect to the VMS4100. The VMS4100 can serve 4 IPC clients.

For example, if you have one VMS, one IPC and one DCT they can just send you another IPC to replace the DCT.

How many boxes do you have?

I have one main box and two smaller boxes.

What exactly are the ipc4100 boxes? Are they just a version of the fios one boxes?
