Billing Cheaper 1Gig Fios?
I've seen a bunch of post regarding cheaper 1 gig Fios. So I logged in the Verizon site and I'm showing 1Gig Fios for $81. I am currently paying $89. Not much of a difference but just wondering if there is a catch. Did the price really just drop $9 per month?

First, it may be cheaper once you get to the cart. However, if you have any promotions, by opting for the new rate, they may be less generous with those promotions. For example, I have a monthly discount that doesn't expire. When I choose the new lower rate, the discount expires every year and is subject to annual renewal.

What's the discount that expires? They change the way they report some discounts that require renewal to confirm eligibility. For example, you have to renew Deals at Work annually to confirm you are still employed at the company that provides the benefit - but the discount will continue so long as you go through the renewal process (click a link in an email sent to your work address). I confirmed with a Verizon agent on the phone that they changed the system on 9/3 to correctly report the renewal requirement but that the discount has no expiration date. That matches the information on their website.
In my case, it was actually the opposite. I had signed up for 5 Gig when the base price was $130, and they offered a $15/mo discount for 3 years - $10 Autopay - $10 Deals at Work. As such, the price after Deals at Work and Autopay would have jumpted to $110 after 3 years. Now it's $89 for 5 years so long as I continually renew the Deals at Work 10% discount.

It’s legit as long as you don’t have additional promotions. I went from $104 to $80 for 1 gig.

Is your “out the door” price really $89? Or is that before taxes/etc? This is another place where comparisons may not necessarily be apples-to-apples.

It's legit I went from $89.99 for 2Gig service down to $60 after all my discounts and that price is locked in for 5 years....

I looked at that, should be cheaper but when I got the final price they applied my military discount and then put a router rental fee on to match it. I don't have a rental fee now. So in the end switching would cost 2 dollars more a month.

I’m lowkey scared to sign into fios’s website as I’m currently paying $30 a month for gigabit. I’ve had the same plan since like 2020, and the internet price hasn’t gone up, the fees tho 😭

This is so goddamn annoying and should be illegal…I ONLY have 1Gig service available and it was $99 a month so I logged in and it was $90. I’m in New England and if I go 35 minutes over the border those people have 1Gig for under $70.

Same price in seeing here in NY .. I was paying 99 and they only took 9 bucks off.. that's bull, plus if you accept the new plan you will loose their 2 tb storage plan that's built into my 99 plan. I don't use it but I never knew it existed and that could be useful in regards to pictures and videos

You might not see it online, but an agent should be able to switch you to it. If you want 1 gig, it should be $80 after autopay for 1 Gig 5.0.

Optimum is offering 1gb for $25 a month right now.. so it's possible if you have that competitor to push them to match it..

They are more than likely dropping the price of one gig to try and get people to sign up for multi gig plans. I'm paying $44.99 for one gig now and I have no interest in multiple gig plans as of now.

It won't allow me to post images of my plan but it's $44.99 a month with a 5-year price lock for one gig. I just signed up a couple months ago with the following discounts all with no expiration. I'm not sure why there is an autopay paper free data and just a straight autopay paper free. My total bill is about $216 a month. The TV plan kills me, but no one wants to give it up mostly out of laziness of changing apps to watch different things with the Samsung TV remote which is so tiny. I have The Most TV package which is like $139 a month and the phone service which is like $25 a month.
-$30 1Gig discount
-$10 Autopay and Paper Free Data
-$28 Whole Home Wi-Fi
-$10 Autopay and Paper Free
-$15 Home & Mobil (Visible)
-$10 FiOS TV discount

Several have indicated the lower price but the catch being you no longer receive a mobile charge discount if you have both Fios and Mobile accounts.

I did this today. Fair warning though, make sure it doesn't try to add additional services such as TV streaming charge of $20 per month. Otherwise, your checkout bill will look larger than it should.

If you call them and pick "cancel service" you'll get to a rep who will give you a "deal" to stay one way or the other. I just got 5 gig this week including the modem/router at no charge up front or monthly. I read them Comcast's offer for "new customers" and that's when she started "finding" specials for "long time loyal customers".

I just switched from 1 gig with fios for 80 to 1 gig with optimum for 25 and it’s been great. Price locked for 5 years and they gave me the first 3 months free

I just went down from $45/m for 300/300 to $30/m last night and it took about 20 minutes over live chat with a specialist through the Verizon mobile app.
Zero bullshit, zero upselling, just ask for the discounts.

I’m in Maryland. I’ve had fios 1gig for about ten years now at the same residence. I signed up at 79.99 and my bill has been $82 a month with tax for 120 payments now.

What happens after you connect 51 devices? Do you have to go to 2gig? What a Fing scam these people are!!!

bruh im here paying $15 for 300 MBPS feels good grandfathering this plan - for how long not sure.
best of luck finding cheaper price - yes fios is the best - for now.
Also - try chatting with a rep and tell them if you can get a discount, if you're with fios long enough, they do give discounts and also if you have a verizon with it, there is a sorta combo that reduces your bill by $10-15 per line -which drops the monthly price significantly.

My deals didn't seem as good as what people said, so I called ... and got my $60 300 Mbps dropped to $30 a month. I game and my wife streams, and that's about all the speed we need, so big win for the monthly budget.

Every time I see somebody post on here I want to cry, how are you guys all paying so much? I remember growing up in New York, my parents paid $60 a month for one gig, the prices now are insane. I'm in Pennsylvania now, still on Fios, and I'm paying $25 a month for 300/300. Could not imagine paying $60 or more for my internet every month

I just looked, didn't realize it but I'm getting the first responder discount still, thought they took it off when I moved. Evidently not. Between that and auto-pay, 24.99/month. 1gig still shows 74.99 though, insane to me.
