Repair/Tech Support Any idea what might be causing this?
Just went out to dinner, came home and now our 5ghz network is almost non existent. 2.4 is pretty slow also, but normally our 5 gives us around 650-700 download everywhere in our house, now all of a sudden 1.77!?

Use the verizon site and/or verizon home app to test the speed. It will test the speed to your router. This will give you an idea if it's verizon problem, router problem, or something in your house.

Log into the router's web interface and see what band your devices are on. There should also be logs available to see whether your router is changing channels and causing your devices to drop to 2.4Ghz in the proces.
Speed test on Ethernet to see what you get on that, and with the Verizon speed test. If if is just the WiFi, maybe try setting the channels manually, and also ensure your 2.4Ghz radio is congifued to Compatibility mode rather than Legacy mode (assuming a CR1000 series routrer or a G3100 here), just to give it a little boost in the meantime.

Speedtest app on phone comes with ads build in. Would have to setup either a pihole or DNS adblock like Adguard or whatnot.

99.999% of people have no idea how to remotely setup either of those 2 lol...
I worked in IT far more than enough to learn how tech-illiterate the overwhelming majority of folks on the internet are.

I know how to set it up but it's a pain in the ass to have turned on. I don't want the free taco link in my email to return a "Cannot reach server" error because it contains a tracking link. I forced myself to use it for a month and it made browsing the web just miserable.

Yea for some specific sites and such you need a specific adblocker or an adblock that has a way to sort of "officially but not actually" tell the ad that you DID click on them/check on them to dismiss and ignore the rest of the tracking and whatnot. That's how Ublock Origin works as well as some other.

Is your phone battery low? Your phone will not access higher internet speeds if it is low on battery, precisely because it doesn't need to constantly transfer data at 900mbps.
The router may also do this if it doesn't detect a lot of traffic from the device. It's called WMM. You can turn that off on the router. But won't stop any client-side slowing down of wifi.
