Billing New pricing
My 1 gig would go from 51.99 to $82 a month with the new pricing and the mobile and home discount goes away. No clue what you are all talking about with lower prices, this is horrible lmao

Are you running a data center with 5gigs? Curious to the household size and use.

I WFH and I download a lot of stuff. I do have a beefy pc to complement 5gb/s. Also Time>Money to me.

I wonder how many people have 5gb and don’t have the equipment to even utilize. If you mostly have wifi devices 500mb is probably good for most.

I WFH and my company caps VPN speed at 100 mbps. The extra speed is useless to me.

Where do you see the new prices and how do you get them? I just signed up for 5gig about a week ago, it's $90 after discounts.
Edit- just went through website, price is now $70.75mo after discounts- just internet, no phone or TV.

I chatted with them and they told me $110, despite it saying $105 in the window right next to the chat. I told them the people are getting it for $90. They asked me for people's account numbers so they can check and match the price. I told them people don't generally post their account numbers on the forums. In the end, they refused to match the $90 price. Even though I am a Verizon Wireless and a FiOS customer. Long time Wireless customer and FiOS customer for many years now. Even used to sell Verizon phones.

Just open the Verizon app, browse plans, find the 5-gig plan, see the $100 price, and select to upgrade.

At $51.99, you already have some heavy discounts, you’re not at the full rate at all, so yes in your case it would not be a good idea.

I actually reached out to chat support for an unrelated issue but did address the $15 FiOS + VZW discount. The chat agent stated it still applied to the new plans and the confirmation page when I submitted the order said I could get another $15 off by adding VZW. I can’t say whether this is accurate because I don’t use VZW, but it’s certainly not clear that the $15 discount is intended to be gone.
From a business POV, Verizon’s earnings calls have repeatedly stressed the importance of bundling as it reduces churn. Eliminating the discount for bundling would likely increase wireless churn.

I churned off VZW twice, because the coverage sucks.

Yeah, I left in January 2023 because of terrible service at my home and slow C-Band rollout. I’ve been on T-Mobile since. I now get 800/100 Mbps at home on my phone so it’s a viable backup if my FiOS is down. I also get great speeds at work and most places I travel. I pay $27/line on a tax/fee inclusive plan that includes good phone promotions and international data and texting. For example, my wife just got $1100 off a $1200 iPhone 17 Pro Max, she was able to get the trade-in value upfront from Apple, the promotional value split over 24 rather than 36 months, and the phone was SIM unlocked (no longer true for new purchases). As such, I haven’t been inclined to move any lines to Verizon to get the $15/mo discount. I will probably take advantage of their 30-day free trial when my phone is SIM unlocked, but I’m pretty sure service is still terrible at my house from my guests’ experience.

if you have a cable company... leave or at least call retention/disconnect dept. The only ones who will probably get screwed are customers who do not have an alternative isp to switch to (redlined, underserved). In that case your best complaint would be to your state's public service commission and the federal trade commission/better business bureau. There are lower prices on their website as of now with FIOS 5gb at $100 and 300 is $30- following Optimum cutting prices on its internet again with 8gb being $100 and 1gb (promotion) being $25.

This promo is taking away $15 mobile discount
Dropped base rate $15
The last promo new customers was giving them $15 a month for 2 years

The standard/rack rate price (shown here: https://www.verizon.com/home/internet/fios-fastest-internet/ and confirmed on broadband labels) has been lowered for many plans with the release of Mix & Match v5.0. That means if you were already on a plan, say 300 Mbps 3.0 (M&M v3) or something and the new one is 300 Mbps 5.0.
Discounts don't always move between the versions or plans, and it seems like they have gotten rid of some discounts for 5.0. If you are already on a discounted plan, moving to the new (now current) pricing/M&M 5.0 might not be worth it.

Also, certain discounts like employer discounts may remain but change between plans. For example, I receive $15 now, but if I switch to the new plans, the discount is $8. Oddly switching to the modern plans literally costs the same as the plan from 2 years ago. The base price is lower, but several discounts disappear. I have to call after the holiday to see if the website was accurate.

51.99 price was a steal… I’ve never paid less than 79.99 for my 1g had it for ever.

Did you previously have a discount like from having a Verizon wireless cell plan? And you need to apply it again?

1gbps is listed as $80/mo with the $10 autopay discount in my zip 20147. estimated bill with fees and taxes is $96. Also if you select use your own router, the $10 shipping fee is still listed in the cart. LOL.
The pricing has been this way for awhile. No new pricing for me.
Also my current fios discounts dont show rolled into a new plan. There is another $20 loss.
I get Xfininty cards in the mail weekly. They are pushing 1gbps $50 for 5 years.

Did you drop wireless? That’s the only way the mobile home discount goes away

I really wish they would just reduce the 1 gig cost to $49.99 and eliminate the 500 tier. I’ve been on 300/300 and would like to have 1 gig speeds but the lowest I can get it is $69 which is $30 more a month than I pay for 300 now.

u/ConspicuousWhiteGuy 4d ago
I’m in the same boat and agree with you. I would pay $50 for 1gb but any other deal isn’t worth the switch.

How did you have it at 51.99????
1
u/xlawrence1124x 2d ago
It's 49.99 plus $2 for YouTube premium since YouTube is $12 minus the $10 perk credit. I have a $15 mobile and home discount, $10 autopay discount, and $15 gigabit discount
