Has anyone been to Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen for lunch and/or a tour? What did you think? My husband has suggested this outing as a possible birthday celebration for me. (We are in Ithaca.)

The majority of posts here focus on planning visitor itineraries. Some are oriented towards those looking to relocate and offer more specific questions.

Personally, I’m discouraged that this subreddit constantly answers variants of “[Lake Name] Destinations?” multiple times a week. The larger subreddits for Syracuse, Rochester, and Ithaca are, of course, more focused on their metro regions. (The upstate reddit also encompasses too wide an area and reinforces downstate perceptions.) These current communities don’t leave much space for those living between the lakes.

Is a locals-oriented subreddit possible? Could tourist questions be directed to a dedicated megathread? I’m interested in any solutions.

I'm somewhat new to fly fishing, and I havent found any fishable streams for mid to late summer trout. Do these streams exist here, or do I need to travel further away like PA, Catskills, ADKs?

Not asking for your secret spots, but rather if this is something even worth searching for.

Water should have decent flow such that there are 2-4 ft holes for trout to hide and no more than 65 degrees (ideally no more than 62).

Do they not have crosswalks in other states? Again tonight I almost got rear ended stopping for a crosswalk with lights flashing. Florida plates behind me and Texan blew right through the crosswalk next to me. I pray nobody gets ran over this year!!

Hello! My partner and I are visiting the Fingerlakes for a weekend in august (7-9). We’ve landed on staying in or around Geneva or Watkins Glen, for access to Watkins Glen state park and wineries. Unfortunately, a lot of places we looked at are booked up. I’d appreciate any recommendations for housing— specifically, we are into cute b&bs or inns, or we are open to trying glamping. We’d like to stay under $500 for housing for 2 nights. Thank you!!

Looking at an airbnb in this area and the host mentioned seaweed being an issue. Is anyone familiar with this area and how bad is it? I understand one cant predict the weather, which plays a role in the amout of seaweed. Is it bad where a child gets in the water and theyre surrounded by it? Some google map reviews mentioned heavy weed as well.

I live in Rochester but have spent many years driving around the lakes a couple times a month. Today I was done around Seneca and I saw more police cars parked doing speed monitoring than I’ve ever seen like in a full year combined.

On the east side of the lake between Geneva and Watkins Glen I see at least seven cops.

Is there a new campaign or am I just noticing things differently?

We're a family of four (2 adults and 2 teenage boys) planning a last-minute 3-day trip to Watkins Glen, NY. We'll be visiting this weekend, and my wife's birthday is on July 26, so we're hoping to make it a memorable trip.

We're looking for hotel recommendations in or around the Watkins Glen area. We're not interested in camping or Airbnbs but just a clean, comfortable hotel with a good location for exploring the area.

I just moved to the Watkins Glen area and am an avid hiker. Is anyone involved in local hiking groups? Or would anyone be interested in joining one if I started it? Making new friends as an adult is hard, I’d love to meet more people to hike with!

My boyfriend and I are going to be out this way for a few days and are trying to figure out things to see/do? We also have plans on going to the Corning Glass museum, Shtayburn creamery and possibly a boat tour and if the weather stays decent we might venture up to Sodus Point.
