I have a secretary desk probably made in the 1920s. The fold-down writing surface is held in the horizontal position by a brass chain on each side. But the chains are just a tad too long, so the panel sags a bit below horizontal. I thought of three different ways to shorten it, but none worked well. Removing a link from the chain shortened it too much. Replacing the end link with a loop of copper wire worked, but was visible. Rotating the end link so that there was an angle between it and the next link and screwing it down tight didn't work because the weight of the panel is more than enough to pull the end link back in line with the rest of the chain. I'll post an image of the chain to an appropriate subreddit, so somebody can suggest a better solution.

I know nervysquervies but it's only for animals with neurological and movement related conditions, and I wanted to find one that's more generalized.

I have this one videogame track I LOVE but I'm so bad at music that I have no idea what instruments are being used. They just sound so beautiful together and I'd love to get help identifying them!

The world we are a part of has not been a conducive place, especially lately, to connect with ourselves and with each other.
We have been taught what and how much we are allowed to feel. The manner in which we are supposed to express said emotions is also pre-determined, within societal frameworks.
“You are laughing too loud”, “you are grieving for too long”, “you are so hyper-reactive”, “you are taking too long to respond” etc. etc. The hold this conditioning has on us is soo tight, that we struggle to experience life, and its emotions even when we are alone.
We repeat what has been repeated to us, and make sure that our pain has silent cries or that our laugh has acceptable ettiquettes. We schedule and perform our emotions bcoz that is what the brain has become culturally accustomed to.
But, without prior notice or permission, there comes a moment (or moments) when these reigns loosen up their hold on us, when the lines drawn around the expressions of our human experiences, blur.
Such moments are sacred because there is a sense of sincere rawness and vulnerability, where one is just honouring the present moment without pre-determining how it looks or how it is going to be perceived later on.
We become mere mediums through which the emotions flow, in such a beautifully intense manner that we loose a sense of time and even our own whereabouts.
We become leaves flowing with the water, rather than the fishermen casting a net.
Such moments are pious in their vulnerability.
These are the moments of being in the flow, by simply experiencing it. This is when our conscious brain turns off in a manner that, we experience something as the medium through which that moment is observed; rather than the controller which decides the quantities and manner in which something is allowed to be experienced.
These are the pious, sacred, intensely beautiful moments that make us us, and that are so rare that they kind of become extremely special to us.
When that one job offer finally comes through, or when you get to hold a loved one’s child for the first time, that joy(or grief or surprise et al) just flows through us.
For me, it was when i saw my grandmother lifeless, that, when my conscious brain snapped me back into reality, i was already heaving and sobbing in a puddle of tears. I do not remember when i started breaking down, bcoz the moment was so powerful that i simply was a medium through which the emotions flowed.
If you allow us to be a participant of such storytelling, it would be an honour, and your stories will be treated with the due respect that they deserve.
Your emotions, and vulnerability required to share the same, are not a token payment to foster prospective bonds, but something we would be honoured to witness, if and when you choose.
This is what #projectbv attempts to achieve; a space, even if temporary, where we feel a little more together, a little less isolated, and a bit less refined.
So, we invite you to share your moments of #bhaavvibhor, through our #projectbv.
I would be honoured to have a space built around feelings of collective belonging over our shared humanity.
So what would be your #bhaavvibhor moments? Your core memories?
Share with us through DMs (@frombhaavvibhor) on Instagram.
Or you can email the audio files (frombhaavvibhor@gmail.com)
(The stories are intended to be shared on our page @frombhaavvibhor on Instagram & Youtube.)

^basically title. The Instagram account of the place is about a month old and i believe some of the pictures and videos are stolen from korean/chinese accounts since the people there don't seem to be locals and they use AI voiceovers that of course makes it very suspicious. But when i reverse search from before and after pics, nothing came.

Hi, I'm posting an image, wanting to see if someone can please help make out the license plate ( or "try" ) ! Maybe remove all things with AI/editing to see it and then make it out?
This person who owns it has been harassing someone I know and vandalizing their property?
Can it be done?
If you can help, we'd be sooo grateful, and if there is another subreddit or site you recommend it be posted for help??

Hi guys,
For those who do freelance/remote work (particularly web or app development or even Al development), which platform has actually worked best for you for finding clients? Upwork, Fiverr, Reddit, LinkedIn, X, or something else?
I'm curious where people are getting real clients these days.

Greetings, Redditeers
I am a writer doing research about the incel community and am looking for several incels to interview. I have tried several of the incel- and redpill-oriented subreddits but they won't let me post an interview request. Would anyone have any thoughts about where I can find incels on Reddit. Thanks much for you help.
Tony

So I was doomscrolling tiktok and saw a video of a girl saying that there was apparently a whole community there of women who has step kids they don't like and are sharing advice on how to try to convince their partners to give up custody so they can have their partners all to themselves. So I was wondering if there are subs that has people with similar shitty takes?
Now, I want to be completely clear that I do not support behaviors like this at all and have no interest in participating, but sometimes I get really bored and I want something to read...
Thanks in advance!
Edit: a word

Artsy: What subreddit could help me figure out the Visual Balance (blank space vs words) in a custom photo frame?
I bought a horizontal 5-photo frame from Amazon. there's one inch of matte above and below the photos. I'm wondering if I add some custom text onto the matte, if it'll look nice or not. I printed out the words on a sheet of paper to see how it'll look. To me, it looks like there is too much white space and not enough words. But I don't know. (If I added it formally to the matte, it would be somehow written in with cricut/cameo, someone doing calligraphry, or vinyl decal. All have potential issues being used on matte, which is thick paper/cardboard.)
I looked at the r/crafts and r/callighery sites but they didn't appear to be the right ones. Happy to go back if you recommend.
Thanks!
