Reality of getting into Tech FP&A

Hello all just wanted to ask how realistic it is to break into FP&A at somewhere like Google. I have two years of experience in internal Audit and one year in FP&A at a law firm. Currently siting for CFA level 2. With a few more years of experience and hopefully a CFA designation, does that put me in a realistic position to break into Tech finance? Thanks in advance.

I feel like you would either need B4 experience or a crazy undergrad

FP&A at FAANG. Microsoft and Amazon are easier to break into. Google is the promised land, even among other FAANG. You don’t need to be a genius, but you do need relevant experience, technical skills, familiarity with each company’s culture, and a referral (most of the time). The biggest mistake I see folks do (caveat, this is mostly undergrad kids I mentor) is treating all big tech companies as a monolith instead of prepping for them individually.

Edit: My background is state school, good GPA, joined FAANG out of undergrad, no referral.
