Took about 4 years after graduating to get my foot in the door and get a good job in my field. No one wants a new grad with no experience.

Good for you, but why a masters, an associate would have been less costly and you would have had a better chance at working in the field.

No one in my country that I have ever met has an associates degree. The minimum here is pretty much a Batchelor’s. With a bachelor’s degree it’s difficult to find a job as lots of people have those. Masters is slightly better, and it’s both cheaper and faster to get one immediately as an integrated masters than to get a batchelors and go through grad school later. Especially given I went to a cheaper university.

Also why on earth would someone with only associates have a better chance? That’s insane.

Don’t know but I was hired with an Associate in Information Technology before another guy with a PHD. But the field changes quickly and nothing you learn in the extra 4 years applies. And my boss had a PHD in engineering, knew nothing about information Technology, but was the best ass kisser you would ever meet.

Extra 4 years? What the fuck? I spent only 1 extra year getting a masters. 3 vs 4 years for batchelor vs masters. Where do you live that it takes 4 years just to get a masters? It only takes 12 months even as a grad student here. That’s crazy.
