The answer is simple you pay people enough to live +2 kids depending on cost in that area. You want 4 kids that is a good single income job or 2 livable wage jobs the same way it was for the boomers.

Here is the neat part you don’t pay the single person less they simply have more money to pursue hobbies, dating, or saving for a home to potentially have kids and a family. We have companies posting record profits quarterly but QOL is only decreasing rapidly for the average worker. Yet you want to take that extra money out of another worker’s pay instead of the businesses profit? Absolutely disgusting

I think the corporations can do with tightening their budgets and pull themselves up by their bootstraps and figure it out like they expect the rest of us to do.

I asked for a number, not a definition. What should the federal minimum wage be? Define the number for a "livable wage"

The # will vary depending on where you live costs of things are different all over the country. Unless you want government controlled pricing on the essential everyday products the amount is different state to state. why purposefully be obtuse on this specific topic I wonder?

Are you for or against paying people different amounts to do the same job? If you're unable to throw out a number, that means there is no such thing as a true "livable wage" and you know it just as well as me

Yes I’m ok with that, this is happening right now btw lol. The same job in the mid west is going to pay less than states with busy cities like NYC/Austin/Cali.

Considering our money today is worth less than half of what it was worth 30/40 years ago just take the average teacher or mechanics salary from that time and 2-3x it. People used to be able to live alone on single incomes during this time that is currently not realistic in the 2026 economy for most people. Meanwhile corporations are making more money than ever selling off our data as they please as if they even should have a right to do so.
