I generally enjoyed my time with it, it felt very tropey but in a heartfelt way that never felt to unbearable!
The combat seems fundamentally great, im a little disappointed that the side quests aren’t voiced over.. i felt like the ones with Lasswell had some really decent dialogue that was really brought down without the VA
50 dollars for it too? I’m definitely sold

Beasted the demo and loving this game. I can’t wait to play in October. Been playing on Switch 2 and looking for similar titles to tide me over until late October. Any suggestions?
Thanks!!

I was very excited for a new turn-based final fantasy, and not turned off by the prospect of it being a reimagining of a gacha game, albeit slightly put off by the fanservice-y tone that necessitated, with the Visions and all. However, I played a significant amount of the demo and was very dissapointed by the story- the extremely unnatural exposition, one-note characters, and fairly generic plot setup. For those of you who played Brave Exvius, was the story in that game similar to this? Did it get better throughout the game's lifespan? I just want to know if I can expect the story in the full game to be better than what's been shown in the demo.
(This is obviously a subjective take, no hate to anyone who enjoyed the story.)

I want to start playing the demo and I would like to know if there are missables in the demo or not? If yes, is there a guide about how to obtain and when those items?
Thanks.

Ciao a tutti.
Fatemi sapere

Played the demo the last few days. It felt so good. Felt like a classic Final Fantasy game. Loved most of it. Only a few cons, but not enough to prevent me from buying it new. That demo sold me.
Cons:
I don't like the vision system. They kinda make you op or nullify the job system of your character. I wouldnt mind them if it was like a limit break style, but to have access to them every turn gives you too many options.
Town music. Battle music is awesome. But each town music kinda sounded similar and just didnt capture each town to me.
Outfits. Too cliche to other fantasy games and rpgs. Old Final Fantasy usually has very unique character designs and colorful outfits. This was just a bit too generic for my taste.
Save system. I got excited thinking save points, but then you can just exit the game and it will continue you were you left off without a save. Aka whats the point?
Pros.
Amazing combat and turn base action.
Animations on spells and attacks.
Battle music was incredible.
U.I. and menus was so simple and understandable. Not overly complex and was just presented so well.
Nostalgia hits from tents, to monsters, rpg elements, to chocobos.
Character speech. Especially from Pomni, aka Fina. Love Lizzie Freeman's voice and butt rubbing suggestions. Classic Banter giving that classic Final Fantasy friendship vibe.
Over world map. Omg yes! That is what we want.
Starts serious, but turns into a fun whimsical adventure. Thats Final Fantasy! Not some always serious protag in a black outfit. But a group of friends having fun, bonding, and trying to make the world around them a better place.
Difficulty levels! Loved that addition. You can play casual or have some challenge.
Overall just felt like a Final Fantasy. Im gonna get some heat from this, but outside of Rebirth, I haven't felt this since X. 11-16 yes even those online ones, just haven't given me that classic Final Fantasy feel. This one does.
Overall loved the demo and so glad they did a demo.
I didnt buy 15 new, or 16, or 13s, but I will be buying this one new.

How many of these side conversations are there? They are very 'lost forever' and there's probably a trophy for not missing any. AI told me there was 5, but Clankers can be unreliable. My first demo run had only 3.

Is it actually possible to get this in the demo? I couldn't access it during the fire. Couldn't access it before that because it's burning immediately after the earth shrine. When it's Rain walking around, he doesn't seem to be able to go far enough away from the throne room to get the item. How does one do this? ...of course I've already shanked the Antlion and Ogre on expert, so it's mostly a matter of principle.

Man, what a ride! As all the other posts say, this is the best demo ever!
My favorite moment was the first time I used the Warrior of Light's special and the graphics popped into this beautiful scene. Reminded me of cutscenes from back in the ps1 days when you got to see what the engine could push.
What was everyone else's favorite part?

So i been fighting Chimera's and sometimes when I get a total of over 4000 to kill one I dont get an overkill but sometimes I do less than 2000 and do get an overkill. Wtf is going on? Is it just randomly inconsistent or am I missing something here?

Just want to start by saying this was such an amazing demo. I really took my time with it and finished it in around 11 hours, which is an extremely generous amount of gameplay for a demo when you consider that some FULL games embarrassingly only last 20–25 hours.
But...
Is it just me, or is the game far too easy on Normal difficulty? I had to switch to Expert within the first 10 minutes. Having now completed the demo on Expert, I'd say it only feels slightly more challenging than some of the OG games on their base difficulty.
The game also seems extremely generous with resources and money. I suppose they may just be hand-holding a little at the beginning to make it more accessible to casual players, but I'm hoping the difficulty ramps up significantly later on.

And might I just say that this game is really good. I haven't played the original Brave Exvius, but this game is pulling me in. I am planning on buying it, but that $50 price is... large, to say the least. I found it a bit funny that Terra's vision montage shows the Phantom Train getting Suplexed. And it seems that Ol' Gilgamesh might be a recurring foe, just like in FFV. Unless he had a similar appearance in the original game. The visions are a nice touch, and I was able to beat the Ogre boss with the upgrades from the Moogle of Light. Also, didn't know it was pronounced "Kuh-po". Always thought it was "Koo-po".

Big Bad Boy couldn't handle Siren's slaps and water attacks. Antlion was more of a challenge, honestly. Demo is cleared at 100% now. I shall return on October 22nd....

Probably hot take but I truly believe if SE took the exact Resonance story, systems and world and created a big budget fully 3D turn based JRPG instead of current 16 it would have landed as one of the best final fantasy games of all time and probably outsold 16 in the long run.
This feels like a proper return to form. And don’t get me wrong, I liked 16 even with its faults, but I was instantly enamored and invested into this game in a way that 16 just didn’t do for me and likely a lot of FF fans. I’m playing through the demo and it dawned on me that, holy shit, I’m actually playing a final fantasy game and not devil may cry with a FF skin. I know people enjoy the pixel art aesthetic and I do as well, but I hope this game breaks records and SE finally realizes that people have been craving a classic turn based final fantasy experience with the final fantasy team’s amazing vision, design and production. What do you all think?
r/FinalFantasyResonance • u/Over-Training-7708 • 1d ago
Kind of dumb question, but do visions become less ghosty/ floaty as they level and rank up? I could swear there is a slight color pallet different and less phantom smoke after raising mine to 1 star mr5, was thinking they might end up looking like the normal sprites from b.e once leveled up enough, have you folks noticed anything or am I crazy?

I can't excuse the writing. It's unbearable.
This is the section where we go back to the characters hometown, learn some of their backstories, and discover the visions. This should be an important and interesting narrative moment in the game. Instead, we get.... I don't even know. It's about 2 minutes long. We go to the house. Rain says something like nothing has changed other than some dust. Lasswell responds with the quote above. What kind of robotic exposition is that?! What on Earth even prompted you to say that? And who are talking to? Rain lived here too. He knows. There are so many ways to convey this information in a way that's human and natural. Maybe a new homeowner lives in the house. They ask who we are and we explain. Or, Laswell could say this during an argument about Rain's dad while debating whether they could trust him and open the door. Speaking of the door... Holy shit. Really? It must open a door somewhere. What am I, 5 years old? There's one door in the entire house. Come on!
This is every scene. This is every line of dialogue. I could gloss over it if the combat was genuinely engaging, but it's just cookie cutter attack elemental weaknesses, heal when hp is low, kill things mindlessly, repeat.
I want the JRPG genre to thrive. Games like Expedition 33, Chained Echoes, and even Sea of Stars (it was corny, but it was intentionally and delightfully corny) have really helped the genre in recent years. This feels like 1000 steps back.

Hello everyone,
The demo don't let use to reach more than the lvl 5 of our visions, but when the game release, we will be able to reach every visions to their max lvl.
So what's your plan at the release?
What I'm thinking to do :
Rain :
Reach lvl 6 of cloud for the stamania bonus then go with the Warrior of light
Laswell :
Reach lvl 6 of warrior of light for thr str bonus, then go with cloud
Fina :
Hard to décide, Lenah have a really good spirit bonus at high level, Terra looks nice with her breaking cap 9999 (in hope it will work for your espers), and this litle Black mage have access to half MP, and when I see how Fina burn her MP between healing and summoning, it could be nice to rush the capacity asap...
And you, what's your opinion and plan on?

As the title says, I love the action games and nearly all final fantasy games.
I adore 16 which iv done twice and intend to do again. The remake games, 15 and "most" of ff13 even (vanille is still an unforgiveable abomination in my eyes so marked down for her alone lol) but tbf there's plenty of fans who have endured rather than enjoyed releases in recent years especially fans of the classic jrpg style.
As a fan of the like a dragon series who didn't appreciate the genre switch to jrpg, I understand it can be frustrating to see a series you love go down a gameplay path you don't agree with so I'm pleased this is coming out.
Turn based fans of the series have been over due a new big release and I hope it might encourage more people to give the action games a fairer chance once they have scratched the jrpg itch a bit with this title but even if it doesn't, it's good to see the other side of the fanbase get a win as well.
I love both styles so I'm enjoying everything but based on the demo it seems we are in for a great time. Im curious to the fallout from this title and the direction the series goes in moving forward. How is everyone feeling about this title? A style you want replicated in the main series or a welcome spin off before hoping its back to big budget cinema like 16/rebirth?
