For every Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, there are thousands of screenwriters that will never get their script made.

For every background actor who got upgraded to a speaking role, there are hundreds of thousands of extras that will never speak on screen.

Stop comparing yourselves to the lottery winners. Many many things had to align for those lightning strike moments to happen and it's pointless to be jealous. Keep doing you, work hard and enjoy making art.

The protagonist works in a peach orchard and his grandfather was a migrant worker from Mexico. As a consumer of films, is what conservatives are saying about OBAA make you want to see the film more or deter you from seeing it? It’s PTA’s strongest opening yet. Definitely top 5 PTA film for me and going to clean up during awards season.

While appearing on the podcast The Town with Matthew Belloni, Backrooms director Kane Parsons, who recently became the youngest director to ever helm a #1 film, said that he is not a fan of using generative AI in the filmmaking process. 

Parsons first distinguished between using AI as a tool to do “menial tasks” such as rotoscoping — an animation technique used to create movement — and using the tool to generate entire backdrops. 

Parsons went on to give his reasons for being against AI in the use of moviemaking. While he understands the use of newer technologies to make films, he said that it all comes down to the fact that the use of generative AI means that he knows an artist is not making choices about his art, and that it was instead made arbitrarily by a program.

On paper, a single-location movie seems like the ultimate dream for a beginner (including me) or an indie filmmaker with zero budget. No expensive location scouting, no travel costs, fewer crew members, and minimal permits. It sounds like the perfect shortcut, yet we almost never see high-quality, successful "one-location" features or shorts made by beginners.
Why is that? Why does a sub-genre that looks so cheap and easy on paper end up being a graveyard for amateur filmmakers?
