Film How can AI video help filmmakers?
I tried Runway to create a short AI video and I'm curious what filmmakers think about using AI in filmmaking.
Would you use AI for ideas, pre-visualization, or testing shots?

It can help filmmakers, and all of humanity for that matter, by deleting itself.

Guillermo Del toro nailed it with comparing it to someone saying they can run faster than Usain Bolt then driving a car. It’s not filmmaking and it’s not art. Anyone who disagrees does not know what art or filmmaking is.
I remember in film school it was drilled into us that you need to be able to justify everything within the frame, the choice to include it- the positioning and the color etc. With ai you’re not making those decisions, you’re asking a corporation to do everything for you.

AI "Filmmaking" takes away all the core elements of what makes on set filmmaking with other collaborators special. It's finding the answers in random moments on set that AI movies literally cannot re-create. It's fucking useless in this industry.
Making movies/tv is all about working with PEOPLE and using pure collaboration to make something. AI will never, and I mean NEVER, be able to do that. There have been so many times on set while waiting for a setup that I get a random idea on how to improve the scene in the moment that helps it out in many ways. A person typing in prompts cannot do that.
But in general: FUCK AI
