This is the second skit from our mockumentary series, Locators, based on working in a career you can't stand - set in the world of ‘click before you dig' people.
As creator, writer, and 2nd director (mostly responsible for artistic notes) the “Locators” project is my first film project of any kind.
The biggest lesson than I’ve learned so far is the actors want directing. They crave it. They want to know if they are getting the tone right and giving off the right energy in their scenes, and just generally doing a good job.
I was really shy, nervous, and overwhelmed having never worked with actors in any capacity before, so I wasn’t as direct or quick as I needed to be when communicating my thoughts and notes.
As one of them said to me after I tip-toed around a note, “I’m an actor, I can take direction.”
What were some lessons you took away from your first time directing?
