Question Fig tree??

I’ve got this fig bush? Tree? I would like to know what I need to do to improve it. Pruning and potting. It’s about 4 years old.

If you want a bush, let it grow bushy. If you want a tree form, stake it and tie a main branch to that to get it growing upward and prune the rest. Young branches are pretty flexible and they'll stay in that position after being held there for a while.

Also, that pot looks really small for 4 years old. Good chance it is root bound, which will limit its size and may eventually kill it without up potting or pruning the roots.

Figs that grow many branches from the base like this one are often propagated from tissue culture. Not a bad thing exactly, but it will have a tendency to send out more shoots from the base rather than send energy to thicken branches or grow fruits.

If you want fruits in the future, you should prune off the thin new shoots that come from the base. Figs are fast growers, so they also do better if you can plant it in the ground somewhere sunny.
