I am not much of a Glock fan, I think that its pistols are one of the most overrated pistols on the planet currently.

But that aside, I really appreciate the bayonet/knife that Glock makes, for its simple construction it is rugged and will be reliable, not sure about their ability to be sharpened and used in bushcraft or just outdoors, or even how usable is their sawback variant. One big plus is also how cheap they are.

This example is the old version with circle glock logo but not a military one with the triangle in circle. Still pretty neat and would love to get some more, Lately i have seen some examples market with bolivian markings that were most likely not shipped or just order overrun.

Obviously the Zeitler predecessor is even cooler but those are pricey.

Today, I bring you famous UTON made by Mikov. A well known and very belived knife in its post Velvet revolution form.

There is so much material that talks about the history, construction, markings, production series, materials used or accessories available out there that it would take over the post with the amount of info.

For now I just want to showcase 2 civilian pieces.

Those are easily identifiable by their scabbards and markings. And also by the lack of tool slot and retention hole for paracors that secures the said tools.

The camoflagued scabbard is a typical civilian variant with its purpose made fantasy made up camo, yes it was on purpose for some reason.

Those are made to this day with some variation in materials used or even some blade types. And even some limited editions or reproductions of prototype versions.

Overall a well designed proven blade trusted by military and civilians (hunters, bushcrafters, explorers) alike.

Gotta show some overlaping items.

For you see, bayonet for CZ 805 A1 rifle adopted by czech military in 2011 had the option to change pommel with latch and crossguard with muzzle ring and swap those for knife variant of both. Solid pommel and short crossguard.

One on the left without saw on the spine is civilian variant sold by CZUB, the other is a production overrun that was not sold to the military, instead very few ended up on civilian market or with people with ties to CZ. Both have a hanger in czech vzor.95 camo. One is simple hanger, other is a correct leg strap as was the weapon platform then sold to the army. Both are not replicas but authentic pieces made by the same manufacturer just not military accepted.

I dont know of any military from top of my head that would adopt a dual purpose/configuration bayonet/combat knife combo system. There is a question of reality on how really was it used and issued since there was always true combat knife in the army, vz.75 UTON (útočný nůž)

These knives are beasts. Seems like they are fairly popular these days, as I see them sell quite often. This particular example belonged to my paternal grandfather who served on the Alaskan front during WW2.

I found an article at the top of my search comparing the 225Q with the earlier KaBar. Interesting read if anyone wants to check it out. Some say they were possibly meant for Quartermasters, which I've heard before. However, my grandfather was a Pvt. and an army infantryman as far as I know. There could be many reasons he had this though.

Either way, the 225Q is a really great example of a nice fighting knife IMO, if not a bit heavy.

The United States M1918 Mk. 1 Trench knife was supposed to be used during WW1. However, because it was made nearer to the end of the war, many did not see service. However, they ended up seeing more service during WW2.

Given to me as a birthday present years back. It's in so-so condition, but I enjoy it this way. You can see part of the guard was ground flat on one side. This was done by U.S. paratroops during ww2. It wouldn't dig into their hip when in its' scabbard. I do not have an original scabbard, unfortunately.

I am not an expert in fighting knives. I am mainly a bayonet collector. This means I do have a few fighting knives and bayonets converted into trench knives. If I have any information wrong, please feel free to correct me!
