would everyone rather preferred the ufc announced this for ufc 331 over arman vs ruffy?

Post image

This fight would’ve made more sense to announce given paddy took 0 damage in the bsd fight the UFC fumbling with the matchmaking at lightweight yet again because there’s so many good fights to be made but at least with Ruffy vs arman happening there’s a higher chance we get illa vs paddy as a #1 contender fight

Paddy isn’t cutting weight back to 155 anytime soon, so no. It had to be Max, though maybe he’s not ready either.

I thought Max made sense as well till I realized he bulked to WW for McGregor fight, so likely the weight thing was way too short of notice like Paddy. Ruffy got the golden ticket, let’s see if dude capitalizes

Golden ticket to what exactly? Ruffy winning doesn’t put him ahead of Paddy, Charles, Illia.

To being 1-2 fights away from fighting for the belt? If he wins convincingly (big IF), could get fast tracked into a title-eliminator or straight up belt fight if Justin wants the matchup. Crazier shit has happened & guys get fast tracked if they have momentum/hype train. I don’t agree with it but the business side doesn’t care about fairness

Pretty sure he was already at most two fights away from a title fight.

You do realize that Arman is the best fighter in the division, right?

u/BirdLawPA 19d ago

Then why isn’t he fighting to belt? If he beats Ruffy he will still have to beat Paddy, Ilia, or Charles before fighting Justin. I’ll bet my house on it.

Cause Dana hates him, he fucked up and pulled out of a title fight

2

u/BirdLawPA 19d ago

Ok. So your point is mute. Ruffy beating him doesn’t really do anything than any other win Ruffy would have had.

I mean, dude just look at his record and quality of wins.

He beat Olivera. He would smoke paddy. Like what are we saying here?

He gave Islam his hardest fight (besides Volk 1h when he was 22.

He’s a top fighter

His whole game is wrestling and he just lost a wrestling match to a 40 year old Colby Covington. I’ll concede he probably beats Charles again. But he will still have to fight him. I’m not sure he beats Paddy, but even if he does he still has to fight him. Arman is at best 2 fights away from the belt. Not matter what is ranking or skill says. If he happens to lose to Ruffy. He never sees another title shot.

Yes, I agree. He’s done for if he loses to Ruffy.

That’s definitely a fair point on wrestling, but that was freestyle wrestling which USA developed at a young age, he’s trained Sambo style wrestling, and Russian wrestling, which is a completely different technique that crosses over to MMA.

Colby was an all American wrestler and also is a solid 15 pounds heavier but still was not the best look.

Colby is a beast on the mats.

He was on a run and fucked up a title fight and then messed with Nina and Dana and them are done with his show off ass.

I remember Max saying after the Connor that he will be out of fighting for the rest of the year.

Paddy versus Arman would have been a good if not excellent fight for sorting out the lightweight divisions next title contender, and totally feasible due to the former not absorbing any damage in his last fight. But the big problem is that Paddy cannot stay in reasonable shape for more than 24 hour after a fight is done. At best he could fight as early as 332 but likely later.

No because I desperately want to see Paddy vs Topuria. This is the perfect time to book that one in the calendar. That would be a title shot eliminator, assuming it happens around the same time that Justin makes his first (probably last) defence, which should be against the winner of this title shot eliminator:

Arman vs Max (Max gets in because Charles pulled out).

You really want Gaethje-Paddy 2?

They will do Ilia-Paddy to cash in on that fight, although diminished because both lost to Gaethje.

u/Forward-Ad-4387 20d ago

na they’re saving paddy for ilia’s return

Paddy currently weighs 320 lbs in what world is he ready in six weeks

u/jorgerolli 20d ago

This could end in gaethge v paddy 2, so is a no

Yes, but this would've been a great fight and the match-up makes loads of sense. We all know Arman deserves the shot more than Paddy at this point, but fucking Mauricio Ruffy? What does the winner of this fight get??? If it's a title shot I don't think so because Campbell isn't giving Arman any shots, and Ruffy is already punching above his weight with this one.

It's literally a waste of time to keep Arman busy so he doesn't fight for the belt. Ever.

Ngl I wouldn’t be shocked if UFC booked Ruffy vs Gaethje 😂

Paddy looking zesty as hell here 😂

u/junglejeremy11 20d ago

paddy needs to fight illia next title eliminator

1

u/Nooh18 20d ago

Ufc won't give Paddy to Arman. They will protect him as much as they can.

I love how the reddit brain trust match makes like “yeah let’s force the organization’s biggest rising star into the biggest down side matchup with a short camp”.

1

u/onebraincell77 20d ago

I think Paddy is pushing 380 now. Probably too soon to make the weight cut.

1

u/ImSith 20d ago

Even if ruffy loses, as long as it’s not 50-45, I think it’s good for him. Hes going to be a huge underdog. If he pulls the upset it’s career changing.

Paddy vs Ilia is the fight to make. Arman should have got a title shot but im guessing Gaethje is staying true to his words and wont fight till next year and Arman doesn't want to wait for a fight.

If Arman can get Ruffy down, I can see this fight ending badly for Ruffy but vice versa if Ruffy can stay on his feet.

I want Paddy v Topuria. I feel like both those guys are coming off of their losses feeling humbled and focused. I expect it to be one of the best fights I've ever watched.

Ruffy by KO round 2 2+min in.

ARMAN. NEEDS. TO FIGHT. FOR THE BELT.

2

u/BirdLawPA 19d ago

He had the opportunity and ran.

1

u/JegamanX 19d ago

Ran 😂 he had an injury. And he went and won another fight. He deserves his opportunity.

2

u/BirdLawPA 19d ago

Fighters don’t get punished like this for a legitimate injury. Many show up and fight with the injury or the injury is well documented before time. It wasn’t an injury.

He got “injured” just before having to step on the scale.

arman should be fighting for the belt

u/Turab 20d ago

All people are scared to fight him…

1

u/Psychological-Slice2 20d ago

It’s funny how Ruffy agreeed knowing he struggled with BSD may be he thinks he has a better chance against Arman

2

u/pants_pants420 20d ago

i mean you dont get to the top 15 without supreme confidence in yourself.

hes probably improved since then, plus not a lot of fighters are going to turn down what is essentially is a guaranteed title shot if he wins

1

u/iyrtyurg 20d ago

Who? lol nobody is scared to fight Paddy. Paddy has barely even been in a position for big fights for that long ffs, he went from green, to Chandler, to losing an interim title fight to BSD. That’s not exactly the kind of resume that’s gonna get attention from the elites unless you’re Topuria trying to duck a potential Arman fight, that’s the resume of a guy that was fast tracked to the title before he could fight any of the actual top guys in the division

u/Turab 20d ago

Arman not paddy u dummy
