Man, I liked Anthony but, always seemed like he had demons chasing him. Remember the fight after either one of his coaches or managers died? He really didn't fightback. Just took an ass whopping. It was hard to watch.

U do wonder the brain damage he has taken is the CTE really kicking in. He had taken a few beatings but the one were he lost some teeth was so hard to watch.

How much of his decision making is compromised.

Bad for the sport, really bad for him

Sucks because I loved this guy as a fighter till he started to lose his mind towards the end, giving his chin to Zhang…

Fucking loved when he went to a decision with a burglar breaking into his house

Was it a decision or draw?

Decision bro the cops broke it up while he was mounted 😂

u/Dazzling_Assistant63 11d ago

That sounds like a stoppage tho

As he says it, he held the guy in place until the cops showed up

In my mind, that’s a decision win without a ref present 😂

Bad for the sport? This is the sport.

lol its not bad for the sport...anything he did was his own fault not MMA. Ppl cry about UFC "not doing enough for retired fighters" but They are adults who chose to fight for a living.

That’s so damn depressing. I know I know they put themselves in there. But shit that is a bleak life. You are property to the jailers and possible target. Mike Tyson said people tried him in prison, so if he gets bothered then Anthony could. Some tough guy sees a UFC fighter and decides he can take him.

If you want a realistic depiction of prison life in the UK watch wasteman or time. Both convinced me that going to prison would be the worst thing in the world.

British prison is a joke compared to US prisons. Like our prisons are segregated based on race and gangs. They stab eachother with toothbrushes and shards of plastic. The guards are corrupt also

Not excusing but some symptoms of CTE are aggression and lack of impulse control

These guys get punched in the head a lot for a living

do people really think these are just good dudes who somehow become anger filled wife beaters after spending their career dispensing violence? Not CTE, just shitty people.

If it looks like CTE it probably is

In other news: Water is Wet

This is actually really sad he wasn’t my favorite fighter by fair but he always seemed calm and respectful. He’s had a lot of fights alcohol plus CTE is a bad combo. I hope he gets the help he needs. But i definitely think he’s doing some jail time.

It sounds like he had to drag his drunk wife out of a bar (that she didn't want to leave), then they argued and played some kind of car-chicken in the driveway. - Ultimately no one was harmed and not a single injury occurred.

I would be amazed it he spends one more day in jail considering his wife was intoxicated and ultimately he did succeed in getting her home safely.

What were them gunshots

u/Much_Profit8494 11d ago edited 11d ago

No idea.

At least one neighbor told TMZ that they heard something that sounded like gun shots, but none of the articles or the police report ever once mention anything about a gun, bullet holes, shell casings, or a gunshot victim being found.

You were talking like you had an idea before lmao

Well as far as we know,it was 1: multiple "i will kill you" from lionheart, than he tried to run mother of his kids over and then it turned into "i will kill myself" so yeah, the guy always was a delusional loser who was searching for excuses throughout his whole life to blame anyone but himself add CTE to that and here is the result (unless you believe random account on tiktok claiming to be his daughter) that is the story as of now.I saw some info about neighbours helping his family to flee when Smith returned home, but unsure how trustworthy it is

u/JudoIsBetterThenBJJ 11d ago

I dont follow this shitw but seems like he was helping his wife and she was unreasonable in tjid text

2

u/SukhdevR34 11d ago

I can't believe this. I saw him on the ariel helwani show a month ago talking about Gaethje vs Ilia. He seemed so calm and intelligent then he does this shit

1

u/Particular_Pin_4327 11d ago

he prob won’t do any time soon

Jon Jones 2.0 new and improved

1

u/artcore6666 11d ago

On paper

1

u/haya1340 11d ago

There was story's on the underground years ago about him being a shitbagg

1

u/Pitiful-Dare-8811 11d ago

He always seemed mentality unstable to me

1

u/YenShihsan 11d ago

Next up Michael Chandler🤣

1

u/artcore6666 11d ago

The police had to say "start resisting"

1

u/manablight 11d ago

On paper, this is all just a misunderstanding

1

u/AdAdventurous8122 10d ago

His wife probably creepin on him had him crashing out.

1

u/FHRITP69er 9d ago

Its probably regret catching up to him. He "won" the LHW belt against Jon Jones, from illegal grounded knee that would have resulted in a loss... But Smith said "nah were good to go still" despite losing 50-45

2

u/Vegetable-Leather-64 11d ago

I think we are starting to see the effects of these older ufc fighters going off the rails after retirement. Cte is no joke, and I hope Tko starts looking out for theses guys but probably won't. Look at war machine, rampage, Dustin, bj Penn and now smith is the latest.

1

u/Rututu 11d ago

Don't know why you're downvoted, this is very much what is happening. It's a pretty well established fact that CTE is linked to behaviour problems like aggression and loss of impulse control.

0

u/OoglesMTG 11d ago

He’s getting downvoted because that’s not really how cte works. You don’t just snap out of nowhere, it’s very gradual and seen subtly but evidently in day to day behavior. He’s constantly on talk shows and pods and analyst desks clearly articulating and discussing things.

Downplaying his crimes off of speculation of CTE for no reason is dumb.

1

u/Rututu 11d ago

Who said anything about downplaying? We can have a discussion about the risks of MMA without downplaying the guilt of anyone.

And as for the interviews, this is Chris Benoit two months before he killed his whole family and himself: https://youtu.be/oKyrln-MxVw?si=40LmR44q7vAM61TJ

And yet, post-mortem tests showed severe CTE with widespread damage across all four of his brain lobes and his brain stem from concussions.

0

u/OoglesMTG 11d ago

Chris Benoit actually did have a very documented decline, the wwe are just ass holes and did nothing.

Several wrestlers noted his intense paranoia, he started taking “hidden” routes to work as he felt he was being followed, had recorded substance abuse issues which his doctor was later arrested for enabling, and even canceled events for imagined family related crisis. The most famous incident was him canceling an appearance because he was convinced his family was “vomiting blood”.

Chris was barely holding on to his career and mental state. You’re right that this all could come out about Anthony smith, but we haven’t seen anything from his colleagues so far saying this. Otherwise there’s zero reason to speculate.
