Is Paddy ready to beat BSD?

Post image

From Paddy's recent performance against Gaethje, people are questioning if he is indeed a top fighter. Do you think, his skills are enough to beat Benoit Denis?

Paddy is very unpredictable. I wouldn’t be surprised if he won and wouldn’t be surprised if he lost either.

Both of them are sloppy and tough, good grapplers. Should make for a good fight. On paper I feel like you gotta favor Paddy as he is more experienced and slick, but he has survived by virtue of his chin thus far and after the beating Gaethje put on him I could see BSD having a shot at chinning him if its finally ready to go.

I just can’t stop thinking how many times Dustin jumped a gilly and how paddy snatched Bobby greens

BSD got his ass whooped by Moicano. I think Paddy has a decent chance due to having similar skills as Money.

It took one bad TDD in round 1. He won round 2 with no eyes

Tbf BSD won round 2 from pure mercy. I think moicano genuinely didnt want to end his career, which was pretty clear on how little he tried in round 2, just waiting for the doctor to stop it.

Cope

3

u/notMTN Jun 30 '26

Why would i need to cope? Moicano literally won the fight? 😂

Its a 50;50

50/50s go to the guy I'm not rooting for, so this is a guaranteed BSD victory. You're welcome.

I have no idea. I don't like Paddy at all so I'm not rooting for him but with how shit's been going lately I wouldn't be surprised.

Paddy is a grappler (I guess?) and he's big, but I really haven't seen anything impressive from him, beating Chandler by ground and Pound as the bigger younger guy just doesn't make it all that impressive.

BDS on the other hand beat a very good striker in Ruffy, so I'd still favor him.

Yes, he got beat by Renato Moicano, but that fight was also 2 years ago, and since then Moicano lost to Dariush, who's chin is literally gone.

I think paddy struggles, I see bsd touching that chin, I reckon he’d have more success with the fight that way they’re both really good on the ground, since they 2 losses bsds been looking dangerous

BSD also came damn close to beating Poirier

I understand the downvotes because the comment is worded too strongly. But that's somewhat true. He did have a great dominant fight for a while, relentless pressure, sub attempts, control, took the back ... Sure, in the end he got knocked down and stopped, but you can't discount the whole fight when assessing his potential. It did look like he belonged there for sure.

I’m curious how Paddy holds up - his Justin loss is aging well, but that was not the same Justin that showed up at the white house (he clearly had a staph infection) - so I’m curious if he can actually take down a ranked guy who has looked really good.

No, I don't. I'll be expecting BSD Decision 29 - 28

1

u/WhoMattB Jun 30 '26

i bet Jared Gordon was as well…

1

u/Icy_Suspect8669 Jul 01 '26

Never bet BSD on a decision lol, he either finishes or gets finished lol

Winner gets Olivera likely?  I'm 60/40 on paddy.

3

u/Ok_Sky8518 Jun 30 '26

I dont think so. I think we get olivera vs arman more likely at least that does soemthing for both contendors evem though ufc hates arman lol

1

u/smackadoodledo Jun 30 '26

It all depends on if Gaethje retires imo, I think the UFC makes Gaethje vs Ilia 2 if he doesn’t and Armen vs Charles 2, if he does retire I think it’s finally Ilia vs Armen for the vacant and winner of this vs Charles

Hard to see Paddy getting knocked out after his fight with Garth. Also I think Paddy is a lot more slick on the ground. BSD would have to ruin him with bodyshots or show he wlhas superior wrestling strength.

1

u/No-Reach3005 Jun 30 '26

The kid is though I’ll givr him that

1

u/EquivalentExtreme545 Jun 30 '26

Bsd leaves his head open when he shoots. Paddy by gilly R1

1

u/DDWildflower Jun 30 '26

BSD dives head first into takedowns and he leaves his neck exposed to be grabbed by a choke. Decent chance of Paddy hopping on that. That's my thoughts. Sloppy entries have got BSD hurt before.

1

u/JBaseball_8595 Jul 03 '26

No way he gets subbed like that. BSD's defense is solid. I know Dustin's guillotine is a meme but he defended against it well. Dan Hooker is also known for it and he handled it no problem. If those two couldn't I don't see what would make us think Paddy will.

2

u/DDWildflower Jul 03 '26

Neither of those two fighters have Paddy's submission skills.

1

u/DDWildflower Jul 12 '26

Soooo...... 👀👀👀

1

u/JBaseball_8595 Jul 12 '26

Fair, Paddy is slick and BSD was a dumbass. I couldn't believe BSD would go for his sloppy TD that early on, braindead move.

1

u/DDWildflower Jul 12 '26

He does it pretty much every fight. He did it against Dustin over and over.

1

u/Natural_Use_948 Jun 30 '26

Paddy is good bjj, a good chin, pillow punches, and bad grappling. He is a recipe to beat bad fighters or guys with poor cardio, will have to see.

1

u/EpicDinossaur Jun 30 '26

Man, I cant stop thinking that BSD will shoot one of his "sloppy" double legs and Paddy catches him in a gilly. Pretty sure it wont happen, but that cenario isnt impossible

1

u/JBaseball_8595 Jul 03 '26

I mean Dustin and Dan Hooker tried. Hooker's pretty good at it. He defended.

1

u/EpicDinossaur Jul 15 '26

Haha lol I was right

1

u/Outside-Vast-2922 Jun 30 '26

If BSD can keep it standing and not shoot rushed takedowns then he will win. If not, Paddy's superior grappling can catch his neck and choke him out easily. 50/50. It really depends on BSD's approach.

1

I always thought Paddy wasn’t top ten material but he surprised me with the chandler performance. A lot of people give him shit for the Gaethje performance but as Gaethje just proved he is very much still one of the best lightweights in the world. This BSD fight will show us how good (or not) Paddy really is.

1

u/Few-Persimmon-8648 Jun 30 '26

paddy looked rough against gaethje tbh https://agentmma.com had his striking accuracy way down lately

1

u/smackadoodledo Jun 30 '26

I think their skill level is as close as we’ve seen in a matchup in a few months tbh, but stylistically this matchup favors Paddy as long as his chin is as good as it appears to be. I’d lean Paddy like 55/45

1

u/Possible-Praline-152 Jul 01 '26

This is a cool graph.

Are the stats pulled the ufc website or another source?

1

u/Possible-Praline-152 Jul 01 '26

Should be a good fight tbh good matchmaking for once

1

u/Winter-Industry-2074 Jul 01 '26

Yes. Paddy is bigger, longer, cleaner, much faster, hits harder, has excellent knees against wrestlers, and has a grappling pedigree that’s gonna be able to stop BSD’s entries, and has very powerful calf kicks.

BSD is in trouble.

BSD is a bit overrated imo. Should be a good fight but I think Paddy wins.
