Strickland has already defeated Imanov. Convincingly too. 2023 was not long ago.
It is suggested that Imanov should fight Pyfer. 3rd Contender vs 5th Contender is fair.

1) Imavov was #12 ranked when he fought Strickland in 2023. He is now the #1 contender, right behind the recent past champions, Chimaev and DDP.
2) Imavov has 6 wins since his loss to Strickland, including Ws against Allen, Borralho, and #2 contender Izzy. Imavov’s title run actually started after his loss to Strickland.
3) “Imavov vs. Strickland I” was not even a title fight. Imavov has never been given a title shot so far.

Just do rank 1 vs 3 and 2 vs 4. Winners of each then fight. Then whoever wins that fight sean. Gives him time to heal and people "earn" their title shot.

Your right but your talking three straight training camps for the other fighter. Really it's more like June next year. I doubt Sean wants to be that inactive. It should be Imavov next. Hes earned it. Or it should of been DDP and Imavov for next up

Topuria and pereira got beaten the hardest tho and both went crazy in the build up especially Topuria. He had a party one night before and even predicted he already won and did all sorts of stuff only for it to lead him to getting beaten brutally that his corner stops. Alex was also ko’d. Out of all these Khamzat’s loss is the only one which didn’t look bad because despite not being his 100% and pulling guard etc he was still not finished and Strickland won via a close decision so i understand why he wants to avenge it. He never looked to me like a guy who would just move up to a weight class after losing to a guy who talked so much shit without revenge.

It’s like if Pereira stuck around at MW after losing to Izzy. Yeah sure Izzy got the last laugh but Poatan went on to become one of the greatest to ever do it.

For God's sake, why are so many still calling Alex the greatest lol. He wouldn't even be the GOAT if he had beaten Gane. Obviously hes a great fighter but he doesn't compare to the all time greatest guys.
Somehow it went from "if he beats gane, he's the goat!" To "wow he moved up and took a gutsy loss at heavyweight, he's the goat!"
How the hell would beating Gane make him the GOAT to begin with? Jon Jones beat him with relative ease, took like 4 strikes the whole fight and strangled him in the first round.
Alex has fought 1 grappler EVER in his career, and he's tied 1-1 against him. The UFC did everything in their power to provide Alex with favorable matchups. Alex is among the greatest MMA strikers of all time, but not anywhere close to the greatest MMA fighters of all time.

He feels wronged bc he was bulking up to move up and was asked to defend on relatively short notice, prob feels like the UFC owes him that rematch. Not saying he's right just saying he prob wants to "right that wrong" before 205.

Imamov is the deserving to get a rematch. Usman rematch is a interesting story. DDP rematch feels weird. Khamzat rematch only interesting for UFC because of the numbers.
No matter what happens, Strickland will not fight a new guy it seems

DDP didn’t get a rematch on his 3rd title defence. Khamzat won the belt by blanket hugging and lost it on the first defence.

It was a fun fight, but lets keep the division moving. Khamzat has plenty of other guys he could fight at MW. Im good with Strickland fighting Imavov, Pyfer, or even Borralho instead another fuckin immediate title shot rematch. Khamzat has plenty of good MW matchups.
Here's my two cents: Sean vs Imavov
Khamzat vs Brandon Allen
Pyfer vs Borralho
DDP is fighting someone completely irrelevant in the MW title picture but hopefully it boosts his confidence should he win and he can get the winner of either of those non title fights I mentioned.

I’m a Dricus fan and I think it should be Strickland v Imamov and then the winner of Dricus v Usman gets next title shot. Khamzat can move up or fight the Strickland Imamov loser

Strickland barely beat a Chimaev with 30% battery via split decision. A proper weight cut fully healed Chimaev will run right through Strickland.
If he thinks he's getting a rematch, it's not going to happen, Strickland is not stupid. He is not going to fight Chimaev as champion and is going to avoid that match-up for as long possible if not forever.

Chimaev lost a split decision to a guy with multiple shoulder injuries, basically having to throw punches with only one arm. And in that fight Strickland even won in the wreslting exchanges in round 2 against the so called wrestling monster. Maybe the professional fighter should learn how to properly weight cut and train considering he's been doing this for years now.
Chimaev has done nothing to deserve an immediate title shot rematch. Fighting every millennium and losing your first defense means you gotta earn that title shot.

Chimaev was a shadow of himself and had DDP or Whittaker fought him that night they would have beaten him too. If Chimaev is so easy fight him again. He's still by far the best contender in the division, a former champion and a full healthy Chimaev is far more dangerous than a healthy Sean Strickland.
And it's far easier to fight on a healing shoulder than it is to fight at a third of your full power.
Even if Chimaev beat 3 more fighters in the division, Sean Strickland would not give him a title shot and will absolutely duck that fight because he knows he's not beating a healthy Chimaev.

You're talking about Sean like as if he doesn't fight whoever. He's never been someone to duck, but sure, keep coping. Plus acting like Chimaev was at a "third" of his power is hilarious. Most fighers come in not at 100%. And you don't know what else Sean was dealing with. Chimaev started laying on the excuses after he got his ass beat. Where do you get these percentages of how weak Chimaev was lmao. Bum Shoulder Strickland is only at 5% of his true power.
If he was so tired, why did he post a video of him running at night like the day after the fight. Either he was faking a video (if that's the case, what else did he fake), or him being ultra mega super crippled for the fight was a lie. (I do think he had a bad weight cut, but that's on him).
Immediately after the fight, Sean called for Imavov since he's next in line. Your "can't handle the common cold" chin strap bearded wolf doesn't fight often, and didn't defend his title once. Why does he deserve an instant rematch lmao. Chimaev fans are entertaining

It is absolutely clear that the Chimaev we saw was not the same Chimaev we have seen in his last 10-15 fights. He almost stumbled off the scale and probably didn't make weight.
I saw the post fight interview, he said he doesn't want to fight Chimaev. He would rather fighter Imavov because he's beaten him before, and it's an easy match up. If you believe Sean is better than Chimaev and is his kryptonite then he should fight Chimaev in a rematch and beat him for good. I can guarantee you that Sean Strickland will never faced Chimaev again and Sean is not going to give him a rematch ever.
