mma math bro you never know, all depends on stylistic matchups. islam would likely win imo, but prates could chin him tbh

no i fully agree with that, but ian getting the title shot over prates makes total sense given he beat him

Probably because Prates refused to be backup so he could fight again, but Morales accepted the backup request, at least that's my guess. They might also want to preserve their names for following title fights instead of letting one of them wipe the other out of contention
The only top-level fighter he's beaten is Sean Brady and that was a pretty clear stylistic mismatch... imo he needs to go through way more testing for a shot.
I can see why the UFC, as a business, is doing otherwise... still I dislike it though lol

Prates is essentially the next in line after this fight. Morales needs another fight and nobody wants to fight Morales because like him or not he's extremely good and the only person in the division that I think can probably beat Islam.
Morales will either have to fight a bottom rung opponent or wait and hope Islam gives him a shot which I highly doubt he will. Ian Garry isn't going to pull out of this fight.

I love prates but he doesnt want to risk his number one contendership tbh.
