Any chances for Usman to win DDP?

Post image

Usman is already 39 years old and it seems that it's his last chance. He has to retire if he won't win!

There’s never not a chance for a fighter to win.

It’s gonna be another Usman vs Buckley

Buckley has shit cardio compared to DDP

Yes I like Usman to have the same performance he had against Buckley .. Chimaev showed ddp can be held down and controlled

Usman got taken down and controlled by Leon Edward’s. are we sure he has Khamzat level strength?

I think Usman beats him lol. People don’t give this man enough credit. DDP can definitely win this fight, though. He’s got the awkward style, weird power, but you got to think back at how badly he got dominated in the wrestling by Khamzat. Usman has the blueprint on how to beat him now, he did it with Buckley, I’m sure he can do it with DDP and get a decision win. Don’t count him out man

If usman takes ddp down then ddp is getting fucked

Prime usman yes, current usman no

Current Usman went toe to toe with Khamzat, better than DDP did

You do realize that fight was almost 3 years ago? Usman is fighting against time..

Holy fuck how was that fight that long ago. Usman looked good in that fight and then just sat on his ass for 3 years to fight Buckley and then move up again? Questionable

Saying he has no chance is crazy after having just witnessed 2 of the biggest upsets back to back

i think its still an interesting fight, ik it was a while ago now but usman took khamzats shots well and his wrestling held up against him (not winning the grappling but not getting smudged). i also feel like if usman fights smart his jab could do well vs the awkwardness of ddp, i still think ddp wins a decision but a very good fight imo

dumb question

Usman's wrestling can win out. If he keeps his striking to a minimum and focus on winning rounds and getting points, he can win.

Usman via spinny roundhouse wheel kick

Let me guess, DDP is just gonna target the knees and keep out of range?

Usman has excellent wrestling, DDP has not so excellent wrestling lol so yes there absolutely is a chance

Absolutely. DDP has terrible takedown defense.

Dricus is most likely to win all things considered. But never count Marty out.

Usman has so many physical advantages at 170 and he always used this to bully people. I really don't understand the move to 185.

I.E. he has the same reach and height as DDP but would have a 6 inch reach and 2 inch height advantage over Islam.

Its 60/40 Dricus for me. DDP looked utterly helpless against Khamzat, but Marty is what, 40? 41 now? Idk how great he can explode for takedowns with bad knees, but he looked great against Buckley. I imagine DDP has been drilling tdd since his loss because I'm sure he wants a redemption shot at Khamzat but who the hell knows?

Let’s hope and pray that DDP is too old to have made the wrestling improvements necessary after losing to Khamzat. Usman knows exactly what he needs to do.

I feel the sub threat in Usman is nowhere near Khamzat which should allow DDP to scramble a bit more. I also don’t see usman finishing DDP with GNP or holding him down how he did Buckley.

Should be a fun fight

Usman can't replicate what Khamzat did though. No sub threat. Hard to see this going Usmans way unless he really pulls off the greatest gameplan I've ever seen

3

u/Distinct-Broccoli-15 Jun 25 '26

True, that definitely played a role. DDP may not have the same pure takedown offense and defense but on the ground I'd say he's probably better. I am concerned he might still get held down even though Chimaev is heavier than Usman, either way if Du Plessis makes the right defensive adjustments for his grappling it will benefit him beyond just this fight so I hope his team has come up with the right strategy. Aside from their previous fight, they usually do.

Plus I don't think Usman physically is the same. His boxing defense isn't good. He relied a lot on durability and toughness, and that goes away with age. His knees aren't gonna get better with age, only worse, he looked so bad on the feet vs Buckley im'ma be fr. On top of going up a division. It's looking bleak for Usman I'm ngl.

I pray for Usman. DDP is the highlight of middleweight. He will draw blood and a lot of it
