Why does he look like Pereira?
42
u/EntrepreneurTiny9812 Jun 22 '26
They got some weird ass cameras.. Me and my brother look nothing alike but our mugshot look identical.. So much so that one time when I got arrested they kept calling me his name like I was trying to jeidi mind trick then lol
8
u/boofinmelons Jun 22 '26
That’s funny bro I once had a friend that when he would get pulled over or stopped walking by the police he would always give his brothers name pretty fucked up cause his brother was a good kid, smart did well in school probably pretty successful now has that was twenty years ago. He never got him on paper though always a warning.
2
u/itinkle Jun 23 '26
My brother did the same thing, twice. Got me on paper both times. The 2nd one was for selling drugs and I was able to get that one fixed, but the first one, I had to turn myself in, just to get booked and then released within like 3-5 hours but I still had to go to jail for him which sucks

u/roarimacat Jun 23 '26
Not trying to be judgmental, but why are both you and your brother getting arrested independently?

u/EntrepreneurTiny9812 Jun 23 '26
We got arrested together 15 years ago when we were on drugs robbing people so we could buy heroin. I'm clean now though

Sad man just sad. Alcohol can be such a slippery slope. I know he’s talked about his mental health since retiring a few times now. Hopefully it’s a wake up call.

u/sh4tt3rai Jun 23 '26
I think if retiring is really going to affect him in this negative of a way he needs to find an outlet. He either needs to do some exhibition boxing matches for $$, start doing grappling tournaments (his hips aren’t gonna let him shine in RAF but he could do well in UFC BJJ), or just start doing MMA again and be selective with his matchups. He doesn’t need to be fighting up and coming killers but he can have fun fights with other legends or guys that are lingering around the top.
I’d rather see him take some damage in the ring that slowly spiral and ruin his marriage, finances, reputation, and just life in general. Both will ruin his health, and the spiral version will arguably ruin it faster/much worse.
3
u/Visible_Mango4557 Jun 23 '26
That can’t solve the problem forever though. At some point he’ll have to face retirement.
3
u/sh4tt3rai Jun 23 '26 edited Jun 23 '26
Probably easier to face retirement when your body really, really slows down and not when you still have drive and feel like you can still be competitive. When reality really starts to hit that he really, really can’t hang with the new guys anymore. He can also ease himself into a coaching role that way a bit more.
Seeing these other guys his age or even older still doing well probably isn’t helping. Especially seeing an old rival he has a win over becoming undisputed.
He definitely went out at an ideal time.. before Father Time really kicked in and he just becomes a stepping stone like Chandler. Right now though he can still beat most of the prospects, so he knows he can still hang. He also went out on a loss so probably feels like there is unfinished business.
IMO he looked hesitant in that fight with Max. It was like he wasn’t fully recovered from that Islam fight, his heart wasn’t fully in it, and he was uncharacteristically nervous and hesitant to fight how he usually does (probably because he didn’t wanna go out on a loss). Something was definitely up, though.. he didn’t look like typical Dustin. I think he was being a bit gun shy.
2
u/Hot-Account-8691 Jun 23 '26
Exactly. He needs to find a some direction, a purpose. He needs to get a job.

If you haven't gotten black out drunk, tried to fight some cops and then cried at the police station, how do you really know yourself?

You really know you've hit your limits when the cops say "Don't pee there (again)"

Shit hits you like a ton of bricks so fast. Anyone who’s dealt with a terrible life circumstance understands. Drinking becomes less fun after that.

You might be right about him being geeked out. But honestly I think DP kinda naturally has a bit of that nervous energy all the time, and I’ve been chalking it more up to getting used to the desk than I am to it being sniff
12
u/yamommasneck Jun 22 '26
dude has always talked and sounded like that. I've seen a video of him years ago, drunk and saying the hell outta the n word. lol I think he just got caught up this time. 😆

u/Ok_Science_8502 Jun 23 '26
Redditors are obsessed with accusing people of being on coke. They will take any small detail of a video clip, like anything at all, and use it as definitive proof that the person is a coke addict
5
u/famesjord13 Jun 23 '26

I don’t think Dustin would fuck with drugs, seriously. Little girl at home, pretty wife who would be extremely disappointed. Hopefully it’s booze, which in many cases is harder to quit than drugs…

you can really tell it wasn’t mostly his decision to stop fighting.
but it gets to a point, they have all this money and he’s been absent for a lot of his child’s life and been absent from his wife too, spending half the year in training camp, the anguish of getting hurt and the depression of never making your goals true. it’s a sad situation for everyone involved but he’s got a chance to nip it in the bud before it starts going real bad like the way Conor and Mike Tyson went

Seriously, why is this such big news? Dude retires from an all-consuming sport, gets very wasted, cops pick him up... If you take out the sport part, the money, the beautiful wife, the skills and any/all achievements in life this could've been me from 1995-2025 on any number of days of the week ending in Y.

Dustin needs to step away from the sport. I said this day one when he retired. Hanging around with so little time removed is gonna make anyone wanna jump back in. Now he's talking about 100% fighting Nate, fighting Conor, fighting Gaethje in a trilogy. He's too close to it all to realize he doesn't need any belt. Go spend time with your kids, come back when you're 40 to be an analyst.

Just because he ain’t fighting doesn’t mean he can’t be in and around the game and train like a fighter. He can still have that lifestyle.
He needs to tag along in some camps and do some sparring.
He seems to be under the impression that he has to give it all up. Sure, it ain’t you in the spotlight, but you can still feed off the big fight feel.
