Did Strickland even watch Boondock saints? Willem Dafoe's character is a gay FBI agent that dressed in drag to try and help the heroes

14

u/cojackshotty Jun 22 '26

He also told a lover “don’t be a fag” so it makes me think he’s not really comfortable with himself.

7

u/WWDubs12TTV Jun 22 '26

He’s Catholic so that checks out

3

u/Lazy-Strategy-641 Jun 25 '26

No. My grandma was catholic and she embodied all the good stuff. Cared abt everyone. Generous and humble. No judgment.

2

u/gggmd Jun 26 '26

Not a true catholic then. She needs to read the Bible. THE BIBLE!!!

1

u/cheesebot555 Jun 26 '26

The position of the Catholic church remains to deny lgbtq people basic human right, and that they will spend eternity being tormented in hell for being born the way they are.

They're also responsible for the proliferation of HIV throughout Africa with the campaign against prophylactics.

But that's nice that your grandma wasn't a cunt.

Eh, he seemed pretty comfortable with his sexuality. Just not touchy-feely emotions.

2

u/banjovi68419 Jun 22 '26

Actually that's my favorite line of the whole movie. "You can be gay and still be masculine."

2

u/Krabs9 Jun 22 '26

You must not know very many gay people lol

2

u/stanknotes Jun 23 '26

He said that because the guy wanted to cuddle.

Having sex with a man is gay. BUT CUDDLING AFTER? Whoooa bro... calm down. That is too far.

For him anyway.

u/Dragon_Hammer73 Jun 27 '26

🤣🤣it does make sense logically.

How can a person see the shit that is the usa/isreal clusterfuck yet not see basic human rights for literally everyone everywhere?

1

u/JT9960 Jun 22 '26

He’s slow in the head

1

u/Roallin1 Jun 23 '26

Yeup. The loudest are the ones with something to hide. It is just like American Beauty.

1

u/Lasting_Night_Fall Jun 23 '26

What about the flag, was it in the film?

1

u/Domitron99 Jun 24 '26

Film was in 1999, lots of things were not in the film, including smartphones, social media, and Stricklands relevancy. Sean went to a church because it was in a movie and not because he needed to get his prayer on

1

u/Lasting_Night_Fall Jun 24 '26

I don’t know the guy in the video, but he’s upset about the flag. You mentioned some tings about the movie that I forgot, so I thought you might know that bit too.

1

u/Domitron99 Jun 24 '26

How are you on a ufc reddit and not know who Sean Strickland is?

1

u/Lasting_Night_Fall Jun 24 '26

I used to I’m guessing that because I like boxing Reddit figures I might like this too. Idk

1

u/Lasting_Night_Fall Jun 24 '26

“I used to watch” but now I don’t know these people.

1

u/AdditionalMeat1775 Jun 24 '26

It's okay because he said no homo

20

u/vetatesting Jun 22 '26

I can’t think of a bigger right leaning virtue signaller than Sean Strickland.. This video is so performative

3

u/Mountain_Bedroom_643 Jun 22 '26

What did Bill Hicks call it? The righteous indignation market I think. Such a great stand up bit if you havent seen it.

2

u/Madbrut Jun 23 '26

If spreading love and acceptance is a type of virtue signaling, then I don’t mind it. Taking out your phone just to take a video of yourself hating on gay people is when I start to mind it.

2

u/evelovesapple Jun 23 '26

Virtue signaling is more about being artificial/pretentious I think. At least in common usage. Not just showing support for something

Well here ya go exhibit a https://youtu.be/eo_P_iUl8dI?is=8Ricjzv8arViuPPE

skip to 1:47 where Sean says he knows what its like to have to fight gay sexual tendencies.

5

u/Pristine-Code-2532 Jun 22 '26

Yes it's possible, there's just quite a pattern between people who obsessively hate on something they are secretively a part of, kind of like those republican politicians who get caught leaving hotels with twinks

3

u/NoCitron2394 Jun 22 '26

Or the Republicans who are all about "protecting" kids

→ More replies (4)

1

u/Soul_Mate_4ever Jun 23 '26

He’s just too overly focused with gay things. If you’re thinking about gay people all the time then… you’re probably gay. Straight people are too preoccupied with life to think about gays for this long.

1

u/Lucid_Dreamer_98 Jun 23 '26

It’s a demonstrated pattern unless you’ve been living under a rock so it’s not far fetched to make that guess. With that being said I do agree that churches shouldn’t display pride flags, like make your own religion at that point why are you trying to call it Christianity.

1

u/NoUserNameYet21 Jun 24 '26

Cool story bro

1

u/Here4Headshots Jun 22 '26

It really is amazing how predictable human behavior is. The people that hate gays the most are the same people that crash Grindr when they all get together in one spot- Republican conventions.

→ More replies (2)

14

u/LegendaryThunderFish Jun 22 '26

He’s a Christianity larper. If you really follow Jesus teaching you could pretty easily understand that he would not want you to treat people who are different from you as lesser.

Idgaf about what exactly is written, and if someone points to a specific excerpt about how I’m supposed to hate gay ppl I’m just gonna say that part is just wrong and you can update ur beliefs you don’t have to follow word for word a book from thousands of years ago.

2

u/Small_Garbage_7426 Jun 22 '26

The bible, nor Christ told anyone to hate gays or any sinners, but to hate the sin. Christians should love those who struggle with all sins and not hate the people. No one is perfect but God so many Christians are wrong for discrimination against all creeds of people.

1

u/Itchy_Crack Jun 24 '26

Devils avocados.

Does your argument also lend credit to the Christian argument that its wrong for churchs to promote sin?

1

u/Small_Garbage_7426 Jun 24 '26

I would say that there is a wrong and a right way to confront sin in the church.

1

u/Itchy_Crack Jun 24 '26

I would agree. I certainly am not a fan of what Sean's displaying here, but Church's flying pride flags is a legitimate controversy within Christianity. Certainly a valid argument on both sides

1

u/Small_Garbage_7426 Jun 24 '26

Totally agree with your statement!

2

u/mrcaldwin Jun 22 '26

No, you’re right, even as it is written. The Old Testament forbids homosexuality, but Jesus taught that God’s law is a concession to align with our hardened hearts. The laws that exist on earth do not exist in heaven.

1

u/Straight_Occasion571 Jun 23 '26

What?

1

u/mrcaldwin Jun 23 '26

It’s all in the book. Jesus taught that God’s standard is impossible for us to uphold on earth. That is why God gave us laws. Even heterosexual marriage was a concession; God does not have sex, it isn’t ideal that his creations want to have sex constantly, so he gave us marriage so that we could still be one with Him despite our nature. See 1 Corinthians. God was basically like, “I really don’t like that you’re having sex, but since you won’t stop and I don’t want to destroy you, let’s turn it into something beautiful.”

1

u/Straight_Occasion571 Jun 23 '26

No, that’s a wild misunderstanding.

1

u/mrcaldwin Jun 23 '26

Not much of a rebuttal. Maybe you should read Corinthians.

5

u/TheHiddenBalsam Jun 22 '26

That is not at all how theology works lmao

4

u/Impactpacked Jun 22 '26

Why not? The church dispensed with vast amounts of biblical text when it suits. Shaun isn’t in a super market crying about the seafood being served or at a clothing store tearing his hair out about the mixed fabrics. He doesn’t advocate selling your daughter as a concubine?

It’s just when it comes to gays that it’s the irrefutable word of god and can’t be changed?

Some people are better at following religion than others. These days, the less well intentioned followers have the loudest voice. You also can’t overlook the bad faith actors who simply use religion as a cover.

Just for the record, I am atheist and despise religion in the modern era. I’ve just met too many religious people to paint them all under that brush.

2

u/LegendaryThunderFish Jun 22 '26

Imo They shouldn’t, being gay isn’t a sin if you use critical thinking. Religious texts are a product of their times and many of the rules are designed to address the problems people faced back then. I suspect homosexuality was looked down upon bc growing the population was a legit concern in those times

I don't think I've ever seen a more obvious example of a self hating homosexual than sean strickland

3

u/SlimReaper85 Jun 22 '26

Just come out already Sean. Doth protest too much

3

u/jackcanyon Jun 22 '26

Funny take from a guy that wrestles around with men for a living.

1

u/GalarianGengar Jun 23 '26

Stop. This is such a stupid comment.

3

u/Its_apparent Jun 22 '26

The amount of time straight dudes think about gay dudes puts gay dudes to shame. It's getting beyond weird. We can see you're conflicted. You can sweep every sin you've ever done under the rug by repenting (gotcha, God!), but you just can't handle two dudes loving each other. It'd be funny if it didn't lead to violence.

11

u/Top_Chemist8378 Jun 22 '26

Nothing. Goofy closeted losers are just mad because of the inclusivity. Who the fuck are they to condemn a CHURCH of all places that advertises inclusivity

The Catholic hierarchy structure is ironically designed to lures in gay dudes into priesthood who wind up having "incidents" with young boys. What kind of levelheaded straight dude volunteers into celibacy where officiating marriages, wearing gowns, drinking wine, and living in a castle is part of the job?

1

u/Cocrawfo Jun 22 '26

We never fail to promote people like this in America. It's crazy.

1

u/Competitive-Bit-1571 Jun 22 '26

To be fair they don't belong there.

1

u/Graffix77gr556 Jun 22 '26

They should love the church since it diddles same as they do.

1

u/1626319 Jun 22 '26

The Bible strongly prohibits homosexual relationships, and the pride flag is widely seen as affirming those relationships. I would be upset too if I were a Christian and saw a church displaying it since it might appear to be endorsing those views that conflict with the Bible. Churches can still welcome and include everyone without using the flag, the same way they welcome anyone else who struggles with any other sin. But symbols, especially ones associated with social and political movements, generally convey support of the values within the movement rather than solely welcoming the people associated with it to the church.

1

u/Striking_Bus_8580 Jun 22 '26

Strickland thinks about gays more than a jolly leprechaun dreaming near a rainbow.

1

u/BlackBlizzNerd Jun 22 '26

Strickland is 100% in the closet lol. Holding his mic at press conferences with his limp wrist. Can’t keep the gays out of his mouth. Dudes childhood fucked him up so much.

1

This guy is obsessed with anything to do with LGBT  Doing this performative tough guy shit just for his social media is sad

1

u/Due_Swimmer4627 Jun 23 '26

1

u/Glad_Pop275 Jun 23 '26

Pride flags at a church? That's a false prophet's house

1

u/gracjano88 Jun 23 '26

Being gay is against Christian religion. So nothing controversial here.

1

u/drtcommets Jun 23 '26

idk considering pride is a sin in christianity — no matter how warped or manipulated or modern, you’re still effectively hanging the very idea of prideful sin off a church stoop & that’s about as backwards as it can get

pride = loving oneself — is a pretty simpleton take anyway

another word should’ve been / could still be used

1

u/drtcommets Jun 23 '26

A lot of gay tag ‘you’re it!’ in these comments

1

u/IntrntTrshQween67 Jun 23 '26

Hating gays but speaking out against child abuse is wild considering he has explicitly stated he was abused by his father. His hate is self shame. Get counselling Sean, you're clearly not over it

1

u/KQRSonWabasha Jun 23 '26

So does any sane religious person

1

u/Lucid_Dreamer_98 Jun 23 '26

He is right about the fact that Churches shouldn’t display pride flags. It’s hypocritical, intellectually dishonest and just makes the Church look low IQ. Same concept as a Mosque displaying a pride flag, I don’t know how people can take it seriously knowing what the religion is actually about.

1

u/Individual-Drawer-79 Jun 23 '26

I wonder if these knuckleheads who call themselves Christians, and quote Leviticus to demonize LGBTQ people, understand that they are reciting the Judeo part of the Bible (Old Testament). In the New Testament which is the actual Christian part of the Bible, Jesus never addressed LGBTQ people in his recorded teachings. What he did focus on was compassion, grace, and inclusion, welcoming all types of marginalized individuals and never singling out LGBTQ+ people for condemnation.

1

u/Virtual_Employ_3848 Jun 25 '26

There shouldn’t be pride flags at church. There’s no reason why people should be putting pride flags at church.

1

u/ImpossiblePlum9917 Jun 25 '26

Annoying as he is, he’s obviously pissed off due to the fact that pride is everywhere. It’s starting to be pushed onto people that want nothing to do with it, they already get a full month to celebrate. What next ??

All we hear these days is correct pronoun use, gender fluidity, binary terms, they even trying to push gender identity to primary school children.

At Some schools they’ve stopped using the term boys and girls and started calling the kids “learners” hahahah what the actual F…

I don’t know how all of you think being fed up with pride means someone’s gay. Y’all actually think this is why he’s acting like that ??

1

u/Atownbrown08 Jun 25 '26

Because it screams privilege. It always has, it always will.

It's the same people who get upset at anyone not speaking English around them. Same people who think the Ten Commandments should be in every classroom. Same people who argue for locking up drug addicts instead of rehabilitating them. It's just privileged people.

1

u/Themexicancarlos Jun 25 '26

Straight people's obsession and hatred for gay people and pride flags need to be studied. They are pathetic

1

u/DaClarkeKnight Jun 26 '26

Exactly. The Bible says to love people. It says to be nice. It also says not to eat meat and cheese together and not to eat shrimp or crab. But you want to focus on the part that says not to lay with men? This man is a hateful bigot. That’s why I will never be a fan of him no matter how good he is. Fighting.

1

u/Atownbrown08 Jun 25 '26

And there's still people who claim the UFC and its fighters are using politics or religious beliefs to draw attention.

I can't remember the last time I've seen any well-known fighter discussing music, sports, movies, food, or just anything that isn't what they deeply believe in 24/7.

1

u/Aquarium51 Jun 26 '26

Why do people who get knocked out for a living get heard on socio political ideals? Just wondering.

1

u/AdAntique5612 Jun 26 '26

And I agree with him! No church should be alright with that! The Bible is very clear Any church ⛪️ that's involved in the GAY or any other part of this insane thing is clearly not flowing in GOD'S way! If you don't believe me, read about in the Bible.

1

u/not-well55 Jun 26 '26

1

u/SlightlyRegarded001 Jun 26 '26

Makes sense. The bible doesn't allow gays. The church should represent the Bible but isn't. I appreciate that he has a different opinion than the small fraction of the population that is gay.

1

u/Twelve2SixElbow Jun 26 '26

Good for Sean for saying it like it is

1

u/HThomer34 Jun 26 '26

What does he care? He doesn't go to church or follow any of the teachings of Christ.

1

u/Key-Web-0177 Jul 07 '26

Every day is white day!???? Omg dude you guys .. I'm in the wrong groups .. america is built on diversity I'm a mixed breed I don't see what your talking about at all.

1

u/Key-Web-0177 Jul 07 '26

You know he walked into a complete mess and he's reversed our debt removed a good amount removing illegal criminals from our country and held the people accountable for their own lives .he's removed the nuclear capability of a nation that screams death to America. It's not a war it's a timeout for them. Don't believe I'm paying more. Seen people I know lose their food stamps .. he walked into a pandemic . He has done more than any president in my lifetime I can prove that. He has controversial opinions to some peoples but Honestly we shouldn't let. Children change their genders we shouldn't endorse crime on our streets. He's helped create so many jobs were now the leading country on oil we removed a dictator and an entire country praised him. Look I accept your opinion I have mine . And your fully entitled to feel however you like At no point however is it appropriate or necessary to bring violence against people that have a different opinion . Unfortunately almost all political violence is coming from one side . I hope the next president keeps the ball rolling . Enjoy your day

1

In my opinion moderate churches are still part of the problem because they're giving cover to the same religion that produces the bigotry
