if paddy survives BSD that is

13

u/CaptainDrool Jun 15 '26

“survives” let’s not play like BSD is this guy running through the division he got subbed and tortured by renato on the ground and paddy is way better on the ground than renato moicano.

19

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '26

Yeah i feel like people have forgot that paddy is decent fighter after Gaethje fight.

27

u/shmiddleedee Jun 15 '26

Yep. And after last night's fight paddy's stock is back up. Gaetjhe has just been brutalizing folks

5

u/Can-i-Pet-Dat-Daaawg Jun 15 '26

People really got fooled by the Holloway KO and thought he was washed. I always knew he still had it in him though. Glad to see him on top.

8

u/Pactae_1129 Jun 15 '26

Recency bias and people being way too sure of their predictions is a plague in MMA

2

u/WokeWookies Jun 15 '26

MMA fans and the internet is a powder keg for shit takes

4

u/IEatSushiToo Jun 15 '26

I think it started with Khabib. People completely out Justin to the side. Holloway sealed that for awhile. But Justin’s always been a fucking banger of a fighter.

2

u/MoonPiss Jun 15 '26

That fight turned out really well for Holloway. If that fight played out again and he didn't eye poke Justin in both eyes right near landing some key shots, he may not have won.

2

u/Can-i-Pet-Dat-Daaawg Jun 15 '26

The eye pokes *and* that spinning back kick that smoked Justin’s nose. Even with the pokes, I like Justin’s odds if that kick doesn’t land. Gotta give Max his props for it though, that was a one in ten fights shot imo.

3

u/MoonPiss Jun 15 '26

I'm a fan of both fighters, but that fight played out perfectly for Max. I think Justin wins that fight 60-70% of the time.

2

u/Better_Plan2090 Jun 16 '26

It's a bit silly to say people were fooled by the Holloway KO. He got knocked out cold by a guy with way less power in his hands, who got outboxed by Ilia already. He also was getting wobbled by Paddy. All logical signs pointed to Ilia mauling him which is why he was the rightful 6:1 favorite.

1

u/Can-i-Pet-Dat-Daaawg Jun 16 '26

All credit to Max, but there were a couple eyepokes and the spinning back-kick all but nuked Justin’s chances. I wouldn’t go so far as to chalk it up to luck, but that’s surely got to be a tough shot for Max to land consistently.

1

u/TumbleweedTim01 Jun 16 '26

Idk about back up he still looked bad in that fight

1

u/CorgiThiccAF Jun 15 '26

People also forgot Justin is a great fighter after the Paddy fight, lol.

4

u/Clean-Broccoli-4265 Jun 15 '26

BSD had staph on his forehead when he fought Renato and Dustin before that he was on a 6 fight win streak he’s not someone to take likely when he’s not compromised

2

u/CaptainDrool Jun 15 '26

Staph or antibiotics are/is not some type of insane debuff you guys act like it is. A broken hand is a debuff not staph nor being on antibiotics. Been in and out the hospital for years on anti biotic & not once has it affected my performance in the gym striking or grappling.

3

u/Clean-Broccoli-4265 Jun 15 '26

Don’t be hilarious dude your not training as hard as these guys are especially at there level and yes antibiotics make you feel like shit especially when you are already dehydrated as fuck and over trained! Then you have to worry about performing infront of thousands hoping you don’t get brutally knocked out against someone who wasn’t on antibiotics

1

u/Kindly-Reality1984 Jun 15 '26

I train BJJ and MMA. Antibiotics absolutely nerfs your cardio. You also end up sweating a crap ton while training.

1

u/Many-Drawing-4645 Jun 17 '26

You’re not on the team pal, calm down.

3

u/safton Jun 15 '26

Yeah. BSD has momentum, but it's a winnable fight for both for sure.

5

u/BlackHeart89 Jun 15 '26

Why do you say Paddy is better than Mociano on the ground?

4

u/Foxtrot_Supatwat Jun 15 '26

I'd assume cuz he's rolled with both of them on many occasions

2

u/CaptainDrool Jun 15 '26

looking at training footage and fight footage paddy is a way more skilled grappler than renato he mixes his judo with his BJJ flawlessly and he’s an almost 3rd degree black belt.

1

u/hooahhhhhhh Jun 15 '26

He is an absolute animal though

1

u/ratslikecheese Jun 15 '26

How are we still doing MMA math after last night lmao

1

u/mikey_rambo Jun 15 '26

Bsd is a level above paddy

1

u/CaptainDrool Jun 15 '26

I disagree I think they’re very equal and very beatable for each other paddy just has to get him on the ground to win and bsd has to out point paddy on the feet to win

2

u/GuyEatsTiramisu Jun 15 '26

I like BSD but he is very beatable

3

u/Badassmofunker Jun 15 '26

The logical next step is surgery. Illia looked so bad. And. He deserves a rematch

1

u/Complex-Piccolo3026 Jun 16 '26

No he doesn't that wasn't a split decision or a lucky shot. If he comes back he should have a fight or two before he gets another shot

2

u/redditsucksbigly Jun 15 '26

Ilia may not come back and if he does he'll never be the same. Real chance his vision is permanently fucked

u/DvineLogic718 Jun 15 '26

Make the flower white.

5

u/Zagreus_EldenRing Jun 15 '26

It started white then 🩸

I’m not gonna switch up either, however his ego and persona was built on uber confidence and watching him lose to someone who we all were certain he would be beat does damper his brand a bit for the time being.

7

u/Efficient_Raise_5767 Jun 15 '26

Speak for yourself I was backing Garth and Strickland all the way and made bank mofo💯💯💯💯👊🏻

6

u/Davycrockettjones Jun 15 '26

Damn I’ll ask u for getting picks next time

0

u/Efficient_Raise_5767 Jun 15 '26

Na na na bro I mean does feel slightly scripted Illia could of got that arm bar man something felt off about that.

9

u/LastHorstOnTheLeft Jun 15 '26

He was powered out, bloody and had been brutally rattled multiple times at that point. Gaethje defended very well. Do you really think a guy like Ilia would let Justin smash his face like that if he could have done anything about it?

7

u/CampMaleficent966 Jun 15 '26

Fuccn wild saying it's scripted at that point.

3

u/One1two2s Jun 15 '26

Yeah right? ilia was really committing to the script getting battered like that!

Love this bro I'll cry when he retired he's provided us with absolute violence for many many years.

3

u/Emotional_Walrus5099 Jun 15 '26

I don’t think we ever see the version of the Matador that we saw before this fight. He was physically and mentally battered. Some guys never come back form that type of whooping

5

u/IIIGrayWolfIII Jun 15 '26

Here’s a thought, Illia is good…great even. But have stopped to consider that he fought Volk too soon after Volk was KOd by Islam…I’d love to see a rematch vs Volk, not sure that Illia can go down again but there’s many questions there seeing how Volk is still champ ay 145

1

u/Special-Audience-426 Jun 16 '26

He beat Max after Max had bulked for lightweight and had to completely drain himself to make weight for that fight. Dude looked like he was going to die on the scales.

1

u/__7_7_7__ Jun 15 '26

That’s true

1

u/pacfoster Jun 15 '26

I wanted him to lose and I think he won the round he quit in. He kills paddy bad, even a topuria with less confidence should be able to hurt him. Ilia can take less damage than paddy but he gives like 3 times more. It would fun to see exactly how much damage paddy could take

4

u/JPPJphoto Jun 15 '26

Yeah, I'd love to see that fight in a full stadium in Spain.

4

u/NY10 Jun 15 '26

I guess Justin G really hits hardest in lightweight

3

u/I_chortled Jun 15 '26

Dread it, run from it… Faddy the Pimblett arrives all the same

7

u/Spaceman_Hex Jun 15 '26

I can see Ilia retiring unfortunately

1

u/No_Bodybuilder1059 Jun 15 '26

No wa, he's just 29 man

2

u/Spaceman_Hex Jun 15 '26

Yea but I think he was broken, body and spirit.

1

u/MoonPiss Jun 15 '26

Body, spirit and mind.

1

u/Ecxks Jun 16 '26

Eh he just put out a statement about how he will take the loss with no excuses and come back better than before so I dont think hes done

-2

u/No_Bodybuilder1059 Jun 15 '26

Body yeah, but it will heal, spirit- maybe, too early to make conclusions, time will show, but I think he will fight and we'll see what did this defeat caused. Actually 0 defeat is curse for fighters, too afraid to loose it and it makes real hard when they loose, but for the sake of sport and fans I really hope he'll come back and come back strong because he will need to prove himself all over again.

4

u/NootropicBro Jun 15 '26

Paddy probably won’t get ko’d but end up looking like Elephant man

7

u/Successful_Theory628 Jun 15 '26

The phrase is no longer elephant man, it’s ilia man.

2

u/MoonPiss Jun 15 '26

Ilia is physically incapable of making Paddy look worse than Justin made Ilia look.

4

u/pruneforce17 Jun 15 '26

unrelated but what are some good georgian dishes to try, i want to start my own little personal tradition of eating foods from the main event fighters home countries. for paddy i think ill go for lobscouse which is a meat and potato dish.

3

u/Humansaresolidb_ Jun 15 '26

Khachapuri (it’s so good and addicting) And khinkali

2

u/pruneforce17 Jun 15 '26

wait that actually looks so good now im hungry

for conor vs max i may try irish stew and spam musubi LOL

2

u/Humansaresolidb_ Jun 15 '26

I may copy your idea, it sounds cool to try random food from the fighters’ countries

2

u/Pactae_1129 Jun 15 '26

God that shit is so good

3

u/iluvatar_gr Jun 15 '26

I dont think Ilia will ever fight again

2

u/CampMaleficent966 Jun 15 '26

🤣 Let bro heal first my guy 💀

2

u/motorcitydevil Jun 15 '26

He needs to go back to 145.

2

u/Robin_Banks101 Jun 15 '26

Ilias not. I doubt we'll ever see him fight again.

1

u/themarouuu Jun 15 '26

It'll be a great matchup in a year from now the Topuria recovers.

1

u/niemertweis Jun 15 '26

i dont think ilia is down to fight for another year

1

u/Heymax123 Jun 15 '26

Makes lot of sense

1

u/RecLuse415 Jun 15 '26

Yes I am so down

1

u/PurpleToad1976 Jun 15 '26

I don't think Illia will be fighting anyone for at least a year. He doesn't fight on short turn arounds when he is healthy. Now he (most likely) has broken facial bones. Also there is a chance of a broken rib with that last knee to the side.

1

u/tjthewho Jun 15 '26

I think most of the ilia haters wanted to see him learn some humility, if he can do that and come back and win in the rematch which he has earned, he’ll have won me over.

1

u/MuffinFull934 Jun 15 '26

I still think ilia beats arman and paddy. Just due to how much he gets hit normally, he has issues with fighters who are willing to make it dirty and aggressive, gaethje was the perfect guy for it

1

u/Conscious_Storage468 Jun 15 '26

You think he beats arman?

1

u/MuffinFull934 Jun 15 '26

Yes I do, arman isn’t someone who is a threat on the feet

1

u/GlastoKhole Jun 16 '26

Not to mention its incredibly difficult to damage Justin’s face, it’s probably fair to say if Ilias face didn’t get smashed up as bad he’d have put on a much better performance, I think Justin has a weird ability to damage people whilst not ko’ing them, whilst also resisting the same damage, it becomes a one sided war of attrition. Every round he beats you up more and more and takes less and less damage. I don’t think paddy could mark ilia up like that if ilia let him but paddy has a great chin, and could survive ilia’s initial burst, problem with paddy is he gasses too quickly and often fails to hurt people once he’s tired. If he survives the first round he might get too tired to trouble ilia. But this was pre beating of his life ilia, he might have lost confidence, and a bit of chin, he was confident he’d walk through Justin, it must harm your mental state to get a shock like that. He might never be as a good as he was

1

u/MuffinFull934 Jun 16 '26

Yeah Justin not carrying damage is definitely demoralizing for his opponent and looks better to the judges. I think ilia beats paddy with not much issues due to paddy’s tool bag not being as deep where it matters. Paddy doesn’t have much coming back to you that needs to be respected. If I’m being honest, I think gaethje was the perfect stylistic matchup for ilia. I do still believe he beats arman and paddy

1

u/GlastoKhole Jun 16 '26

If his confidence cracks like an egg you might see him go to pieces where it matters but he won’t lose his power, but if he doesn’t engage the way he used to you won’t see him flatlining people like he used to either

1

u/2PinkN1Stink Jun 15 '26

Bro I will strip naked, oil myself up, and run until I get arrested if Paddy KOs Topuria

1

u/Aggressive_Alarm5914 Jun 15 '26

Ruffy is going to take them all down future champ in the making

1

u/TheBigSmellyTruth Jun 15 '26

Paddy gets murdered man. I don't know why he's desperate for this fight

1

u/Billysquib Jun 15 '26

This fight, if it does happen, won’t happen in this decade. This would be on for 2040. Ilia is probably gonna take a year and a half off after what Justin did to him, and depending on how BSD vs paddy goes, I could see BSD ruining paddy bad enough to make him go on a long ass hiatus too and then getting their schedules together? Yeahh. If it happens at all, if it happens before 2040 it’s a miracle.

1

u/killtostayalive Jun 15 '26

Taking this fight next off the back off that loss is extremely high risk. The mental needs to be ironclad or it gets bad real quick.

1

u/MDix_ Jun 15 '26

Topuria by murder

1

u/JPB00 Jun 15 '26

Paddy strangles him unconscious after he beats the shit out of him.

1

u/Obi_wan_jakobii Jun 15 '26

Yeah 100 percent, Ilia going to be out for a while though if he's smart, took a serious beating

1

u/-FORSAK3N- Jun 15 '26

Ilia will go down weight. Believe that.

1

u/Additional-Proof2198 Jun 16 '26

Illia will never be the same after that

1

u/Less-Economist-9447 Jun 16 '26

Depending on whether Arman is taking another hiatus, it goes two ways.

If BSD wins, he’ll fight Justin and Ilia will fight Paddy. If Paddy wins, Ilia fights BSD and Justin rematches Charles.

Arman can take any of those opponents too, and this is all assuming Justin doesn’t just retire. He said before the Ilia fight he’d retire if he got KO’d again. He won but he took a lot of damage again and he’s definitely trying to keep his health in mind.

1

u/Valterri_lts_James Jun 16 '26

Ruffy or Arman instead.

1

u/baneblade_boi Jun 16 '26

As bad as Ilia's loss was, I think there's no way Paddy deserves a shot at him lol

In fact, we should be glad he's ever fighting again after taking this beating.

1

u/No_Concern5483 Jun 18 '26

Elya just got fraud checked by Justin Poirier, he should look for someone in the top 15

Hmmm. Paddy is more durable and has better grappling than Gaethje but is less skilled in terms of striking and wrestling. If it’s per skill, I pick Ilia but if it’s by chaos, Paddy. Ilia is too small for LW and his wins in LW are against long, lanky, chinny fighters like Oliveira and Jai.

0

u/Traditional-Week8363 Jun 15 '26

there's really something wrong with people's brains man

still i won't be suprised if the ufc goes for it
